Interface adhesion

The paper presents a series of modified direct shear tests to investigate the interface shear strength between clay and nonwoven geotextile under different normal stresses and degrees of saturation.

The surface treatment by physical method of jute fiber using air plasma was investigated. Fiber was treated by the atmospheric plasma with various conditions of power 50W and different treatment times (from 1 min to 7 min). After treatment, the characteristics of fiber changed remarkably and fiber surface observed by SEM analyze showed a better morphology for adhesion. The result showed that tensile strength and Young’s modulus of jute fiber were slightly improved, however there was a remarkable improvement interface adhesion between fibers and polypropylene (PP) resin.

The interaction betweena-dystroglycan (a-DG) andb-dystroglycan (b-DG), the two constituent subunits of the adhesion complex dystroglycan, is crucial in maintaining the integrity of the dystrophin–glycoprotein complex. The importance of the a–binterface can be seen in the skeletal muscle of humans affected by severe conditions, such as Duchenne muscular dystrophy, where thea–binteraction can be secondarily weakened or completely lost, causing sarcolemmal instability and muscular necrosis.
