In present investigation attempts have been made to develop nutrient rich vermicelli by addition of wheat and malted ragi flour in different proportions (90:10 80:20, 70:30, 60:40 and 50:50) for optimization of ratio for production of better quality vermicelli. It was observed that among all the formulations tried, vermicelli sample prepared with 70:30 (wheat: malted ragi flour) combination had similar sensory score as that of control.

Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is an important constituents of Indian agriculture and nutritional security due to their high yield, economic viability, ability to generate on-farm and off-farm employment so this makes it one of the most important cereal crops in India and a main source of vitamins and minerals such as thiamine, niacin, iron, riboflavin, vitamin D, calcium, and fiber. Wheat covers approximately 25% of the total global area devoted to by cereal crops. Since the consumption of wheat is directly proportional to the population growth.

Deficiency of micronutrients in soil particularly, that of Fe is a major nutritional and production constraint worldwide. We hypothesize a role of sulphur nutrition in altering the Fe deficiency tolerance response of crop plants. Present investigation was conducted to elucidate the role of S in regulating uptake and in-plant partitioning of Fe in bread and durum wheat through a field and a nutrient solution culture experiment.

Though one sixth of the global population resides in India, paradoxically, one third of about two billion people are suffering from vitamin and micronutrient deficiency in India due to heavy dependence on cereals grown in Zn- deficit soils. With the hypothesis that the residual Zn present in soil can also enhance the grain Zn content, a study was conducted with wheat variety ‘HD 2329’ to assess the grain concentrations of Zinc (Zn), Iron (Fe) and Phosphorus (P) grown on residual zinc in soils with divergent characteristics.

Adolescents constitute over 21.4 % of the population in India. This age group needs special attention as is a period of rapid transition from childhood to adulthood that normally is characterized by important psychological and social changes in the age group of 10 -19 years. The adolescents number is expected to reach 1.13 billion by the year 2025. It is during the period of adolescence that nutrient needs are the greatest.

The abiotic stresses, such as soil salinity and sodicity are mainly accountable for the low productivity of crops largely due to low availability of micro-nutrients especially zinc and iron. For that reason, sensible management of plant nutrients in these soils is as vital as their reclamation. A field experiment was conducted for 4 successive years, consisting of eight treatments laid out in randomized block design to evaluate the soil fertility status after harvest of wheat (Triticum aestivum L) in salt affected soils of Gujarat as influenced by iron and zinc enriched FYM.

Macronutrient specially K and micronutrient malnutrition, and particularly deficiency in zinc (Zn), iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn), afflicts over three billion people worldwide. A pot culture experiment was conducted to study the effect of water stress on potassium and some micronutrient accumulation in straw and grains of wheat genotypes. Eight wheat genotypes were grown, 4 tolerant and 4 susceptible against water stress for the experiment. Moisture stress treatment to plants was given at anthesis through withdrawal of water.
