  • Aristolochia austroyunnanensis S. M. Hwang (family Aristolochiaceae), a species endemic to southern China, is newly recorded for the flora of Vietnam. This newly recorded species belong to subgenus Siphisia and is most similar to Aristolochia petelotii O. C. Schmidt and Aristolochia fangchi C. Wu ex L. D. Chow & S. M. Hwang. Detailed morphological descriptions and color illustrations, together with information on distribution, habitat, phenology, and taxonomic notes are given. An identification key to all known Siphisia species in Vietnam is also provided.

  • The identification of most species relied on careful examination of their morphological characters. These findings collectively raised the Ophichthus genus’s representation in Vietnamese waters by introducing three previously undocumented species, raising the total count to 17 compared to prior research. Furthermore, this study provides a comprehensive key to aid in identifying the various Ophichthus species found in Vietnam.

  • Dicamptus isshikii Uchida, 1928 is recorded for the first time from Vietnam on the basis of specimens collected from Bat Xat Nature Reserve, Lao Cai province, Northwest Vietnam. A checklist of the Dicamptus species of Vietnam is presented with detailed records on the distribution range of each species. A key to the Vietnamese species of the genus Dicamptus is also provided.

  • A review of the oribatid mites of the genus Papillacarus Kunst, 1959 (Oribatida: Lohhmanniidae) in Vietnam, with remarks on the taxonomic status of P. arboriseta, is presented. The article provides also a key to nine species recorded in Vietnam, namely P. arboriseta Jeleva et Vu, 1987, P. benenensis Vu, Ermilov et Dao, 2010, P. cornutus (Sarkar et Subias, 1984), P. hirsutus (Aoki, 1961), P. indistinctus Ermilov, Anichkin et Wu, 2012, P. polygonatus Ermilov et Anichkin, 2011, P. polysetosus Ermilov, Anichkin et Wu, 2012, P. ramosus Balogh, 1961, and P. undirostratus Aoki, 1965.

  • The data matrix was analyzed using the key-generating package of programs DELTA. The analysis produced a conventional key with a detailed description of every species in terms of the 54 characters. The key is decidedly a marked improvement over its predecessors in that it is strictly comparative and leads directly to the full scientific name of any taxon, instead of having to use a key to the genera followed by a second key to the infra-generic taxa.

  • The freshwater copepod Mesocyclops Sar, 1914, a species-rich genus within the family Cyclopidae Rafinesque, 1815, is common in tropical areas. In addition, the genus members are used for the biological control of mosquito larvae (Anopheles, Aedes) which are vectors for transmitting dengue fever. In Vietnam, a total of 11 Mesocyclops species have been recorded in inland freshwater bodies. Of which, one endemic species (M. sondoongensis Tran & Hołyńska, 2015) and two species were described from Vietnam, namely M. yenae Hołyńska, 1998; M. ferjemurami Hołyńska & Vu, 2000.

  • The Platylomia radha species group is proposed within the genus Platylomia Stål, which includes one new species, Platylomia duffelsi sp. nov., from the north Vietnam. Synonymic lists for the four species of Platylomia from Vietnam are provided. A key to the four Platylomia species: P. bocki (Distant), P. duffelsi sp. nov., P. malickyi Beuk, and P. operculata Distant from Vietnam is provided. Photos of the adult, illustrations of the male genitalia, a distribution map and biological data are also given.
