  • Cuscuta campestris is complete stem parasite and serious problem of lentil. It causes 87% yield loss. Manual removal of Cuscuta is labour intensive and cause high labour cost. Herbicides are the best option for the management of Cuscuta. In present study, impact of Pendimethalin, Quizalfop and Imazethapyr were observed on weed count of Cuscuta and yield attribute of Lentil. In both the year i.e. 2014-15 and 2015-16, Pendimethalin cause maximum reduction in weed count of Cuscuta, highest number of pod per plant and yield of lentil compared to Quizalfop ethyl and Imazethapyr.

  • The present investigation was undertaken with view to study cost and returns in rain-fed maize farmers of tribal area of Central Gujarat. Multistage stratified sampling method was adopted for sample design. A sample of 240 maize farmers were selected from 12 selected villages of six selected talukas of three tribal districts. Techniques such as, percentage and ratios, mean, standard deviation and t-test were employed. Standard farm management cost and returns concepts were used to estimate various costs and returns.

Weeds compete with the crops for water, soil, nutrients, light, space and crop yields are significantly reduced as reported by several studies.   • The research study on “Analyses of post harvest management practices of sericulture entrepreneur was conducted in Zone III of north eastern part of Karnataka. The ex-postfacto research design along with snowball method of sampling is used for the study. It was corroborated that, 92 per cent of respondents fallowing 4 day harvest and 5 day sale during summer followed by 5 day harvest and 6 day sale during winter. Around sixty per cent respondents were taken by initial cleaning and seventy per cent of them involving in separation of inferior cocoons from lot.

  • The present investigation was conducted in order to reduce labour as well as input cost for rice cultivation of rice growing predominantly small and marginal farmers of Mahabubnagar district of Telangana State of India. Eight row rice drum seeder was introduced and evaluated on farmer’s field during kharif 2013, 2014 and 2015 years. The seeder consists of eight seed drum made up of fiber which required only one operator to do the seeding. Two varieties viz., MTU1010 and Tellahamsa were sown. The seed was pre soaked for 24 hours followed by incubation for12 hours to just germinate the seed.

  • Economic study of potato production of 44 growers grouped into small (20), medium (14) and large (10) from Agra district showed the overall cost of cultivation to be Rs. 140303.7 per farm and Rs. 78657.98 per hectare. Among all the inputs, per hectare value of potato seed was 25%, the human labour was 14%, the total variable cost was 78%, the total fixed cost was 22% per ha and the overall total cost C3 of potato was Rs. 154334.07 per farm and Rs. 86523.78 per hectare. The gross income received by farms with the overall average of Rs. 188370.
