Lactating crossbred cows
-
The puerperal uterine soundness is essential for the re-establishment of postpartum ovarian cyclicity and next pregnancy. Normally calved 36 healthy Holstein Friesian crossbred cows aged between 2nd and 5th lactations were selected immediately after parturition. Day of parturition was considered as day 0 of the experiment.

o investigate the changes that occur in inflammatory mediators and reproductive hormones levels in mastitis crossbred cows, the crossbred cows were screened for SCM incidence (24) by mCMT, SCC, electric conductivity of milk and abnormal milk. Based on this, the cows were divided as group I (n=8) - no clinical symptom of mastitis (healthy), group II (n=8) - showing chronic sub-clinical mastitis (SCM), group III (n=8) - showing clinical mastitis symptoms (CM). Blood samples were collected from group I and II the cows at weekly intervals from day 54 to 138 of lactation.

Crossbred dairy cattle milk production and milk fat depends mainly on feeding management with adequate availability of nutrients in their feed materials. It comprises the major protein supply for milk production. The demand of milk is increasing for nutrition of population in country. Presently, Azolla green fodder feeding is being considered essential for lactating dairy animals.

This study was conducted to evaluate the nutrient intake of crossbred cows fed different feed additives based diets using twelve lactating crossbred cows of Holestein Fresian X Sahiwal (HFXS) and Jersy X Sahiwal (JXS) nearly similar stage of lactation. The cows were assigned into treatments having, T1 = Feed Additive-A based diet, T2 = Feed Additive-B based diet, T3 = Feed Additive-C based diet with similar concentrate mixture, using randomized complete block design into three blocks of four animals. The Feed intake and milk production were assessed.

The dairy farming in our country is entirely different from other developed countries. The reason is that small and marginal farmers feeding of dairy animals produce the bulk of production in our country. In terms of buffer use in nutrition, it has been defined as a salt of a weak acid which neutralizes acids that occur in feeds or acids produced during digestion and metabolism of nutrients. The experiment was carried out on 16 healthy crossbred cows nearly similar age and in late stage lactation to study the effect of feeding buffer on milk yield and fat per cent of raw milk.

Five lactating crossbred cows were selected to investigate the effect of bypass fat supplementation on milk yield, milk composition and chemical parameters of ghee. There were no significant differences in milk yield, milk composition yield and fat proteincorrected milk yield, compared to base levels, recorded at the time of starting experimental feeding.

The study was conducted to evaluate the effect of copper and zinc along with additional energy on steroid hormone and reproductive performance during periparturient period in crossbred cattle. Advanced pregnant crossbred cows (n=20) of 2 to 4 parity and lactation yield of >10L/day were divided into two equal groups (n=10 cows/group).

The experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of antioxidant [vitamin E (vit E)] and trace minerals [selenium (Se), copper (Cu), zinc (Zn)], high energy diet supplementation and its effect on allometric and physio-biochemical parameters in crossbred cows during transition period. For this, advanced pregnant crossbred cows (n = 20) of 2nd to 4th parity and lactation potential of >10 L/day at 28 days prepartum were divided into two groups viz. control (CON) and treatment (TRT) consisting of 10 animals each.

The study was undertaken to determine and compare the activity of important enzymes and its correlation with milk production in cattle. The study was done on each of six Gir, Kankrej and Crossbred cattle. The animals were divided in to three groups viz. 0-90 days of lactation (Group I), 91-180 days of lactation (group II) and 181 till dry stage (group III). Blood was collected aseptically before and after milking and clear plasma was separated and stored until analyzed.

Transition period is a critical period of dairy cow in terms of physiological stress. Rapid body fat mobilization, fatty infiltration of liver and impaired performance are characteristics of late pregnancy and early lactation. Choline acts as a lipotropic factor. The present study was planned to study the effect of high energy levels with or without rumen protected choline before calving on milk production and metabolic profile of crossbred cows.

The purpose of this study was to investigate sub-clinical mastitis in organized dairy farm and prevalence of Staphylococcus aureus with its antibiogram pattern. The present study was carried out at Research Cum Development Project on Cattle, Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri, Maharashtra. A total of 1296 lactating crossbred cows (5184 quarters) were investigated for sub-clinical mastitis. Samples positive for sub-clinical mastitis were subjected for isolation and biochemical characterization. Isolates that was confirmed as S.

The present study was done on eighteen cows with a history of milk flow disorders under conventional milking pattern, divided into 3 groups of 6 animals each based on the type of obstructive lesion viz; focal (TypeI), Diffuse (Type II) and membranous (Type III) respectively. Out of 18 cows 17 were crossbred jersey and one was crossbred Holstein Friesian aged between 3.5-7 years presented during 2nd -4 th lactation and maintained with calves alive and all were suckling except one. In the present study, teat obstruction was noticed predominantly on right fore teat.

The present study was carried out in a total of 673 postpartum crossbred cows of first to fifth lactations maintained under stall fed conditions at different Government and private farms from Kamrup Metro, Cachar and Udalguri district of Assam. All the postpartum crossbred cows were examined per rectum to determine the reproductive status based on the owner’s history and the incidence of cows with silent oestrus was worked out. Results revealed that a total of 86 crossbred cows (12.

In the present study 24 high milk yielding crossbred cows were selected based upon their parity, lactation milk yield and body condition score. These cows were divided into four groups keeping 6 cows in each group. Cows in Group 1 and group 2 were fed with ration containing high NEL having 1.50Mcal/kg and designated as high energy control (HEC) and high energy choline (HECh). Cows in Group 3 and Group 4 were fed with ration containing low NEL having 1.26Mcal/kg and designated as low energy control (LEC) and low energy choline (LECh).

Though low solid-not-fat syndrome (SNF) is not a major problem in indigenous breeds like Amit Mahal, in Holstein Friesian and Jersey cross breed cows low SNF is of economic concern to the farmers as the price of the milk is based on the content of SNF. The study was undertaken to determine and compare the serum metabolic profile in indigenous cattle like Amrit Mahal and Holstein Friesian crossbred and Jersey crossbred cows. Selected animals were grouped based on the breed as Group I (Amrit Mahal), Group II (Holstein Friesian crossbred) and Group III (Jersey crossbred cows).
