The aim of this study was to assess the safety of laparoscopic cholecystectomy using "The Critical View of Safety" (CVS) technique for the management of gallbladder stone disease. Prospective study, describing a series of cases of patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy with CVS applied to treat gallbladder stones at Binh Dan Hospital from January 2022 to October 2022.

Gallbladder torsion is a rare cause of abdominal pain; however, it is important to diagnose pre-operatively. We report two cases of gallbladder torsion, both of which were not recognized until the time of surgery. Both patients were elderly thin females, presenting with right upper quadrant pain, and on examination had a positive Murphy’s sign, and pre-operative imaging was suggestive of acalculus cholecystitis.

Gallbladder torsion is a very rare cause of acute abdominal pain. It usually occurs in elderly women, when the gallbladder twists around its mesentery. Contributory factors for this to occur are postulated to be an associated anatomical abnormality of the vascular pedicle to the gallbladder or the presence of an abnormally long mesentery from the gallbladder to the liver bed allowing it to float freely.

Current treatment of complicated calculous biliary disease typically involves a two-step procedure consisting of pre- or post-operative endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) followed by laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC). This practice creates drawbacks as there is the need for two anesthesia inductions and longer hospital stay.

Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy (LC) is conventionally performed under general anaesthesia (GA), but there are multiple studies which have found spinal anaesthesia (SA) as a safe alternative. This meta-analysis was performed after adding many recent randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to clarify this issue.

The third-generation streamlined liner of the pharynx airway (SLIPA-3G) is a new-generation supraglottic airway device (SAD) that is non-cuffed and disposable, with a sealing pressure that varies dynamically with the airway pressure. This study compared the SLIPA-3G with the laryngeal mask airway supreme (LMAS) in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Postoperative hypothermia is a common cause of complications in patients who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Hypothermia is known to elicit electrophysiological, biochemical, and cellular alterations thus leading to changes in the active and passive membrane properties.

Perioperative dynamic left ventricular outflow obstruction associated with systolic anterior motion of the mitral valve is well recognized as a cause for unexplained sudden hypotension in perioperative settings, even without underlying heart diseases such as hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy.

Increased central venous pressure secondary to an increase in intraabdominal pressure has been reported during laparoscopic surgery. However, no study has yet determined the effect of pneumoperitoneum on cross-sectional area (CSA) of central veins by ultrasonography during laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Dexmedetomidine (DEX) has sedative, sympatholytic and analgesic effects and might be beneficial if used as an adjuvant to: Improve analgesia; modulate haemodynamic responses to intubation and pneumoperitoneum and; reduce the number of opioid-associated adverse events.

We aimed to evaluate a modified endotracheal tube containing upper and lower balloons for anesthetic administration among patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Methods: Ninety patients scheduled to undergo laparoscopic cholecystectomy were randomly allocated to 3 equal groups: group A (conventional tracheal intubation without endotracheal anesthesia); B (conventional tracheal intubation with endotracheal anesthesia)

Postoperative visceral pain is common after surgery and previous studies have demonstrated that oxycodone is an effective treatment. In this study, we compared the effects of preemptive oxycodone to equal dose of sufentanil on postoperative pain and serum level of inflammatory factors (TNF-α, IL-6, IL-10) after laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

As a part of multimodal analgesia for laparoscopic cholecystectomy, both intraoperative lidocaine and esmolol facilitate postoperative analgesia. Our objective was to compare these two emerging strategies that challenge the use of intraoperative opioids. We aimed to assess if intraoperative esmolol infusion is not inferior to lidocaine infusion for opioid consumption after laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

The Surgical Pleth Index (SPI) is an objective tool that can reflect nociception-antinociception balance and guide the use of intraoperative analgesics. Multimodal analgesia has been neglected in many previous studies. The aim of this study was to compare fentanyl consumption using SPI-guided analgesia versus conventional analgesia techniques under multimodal analgesia in laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Existing imaging techniques have a low ability to detect lymph node metastasis (LNM) of gallbladder cancer (GBC). Gallbladder removal by laparoscopic cholecystectomy can provide pathological information regarding the tumor itself for incidental gallbladder cancer (IGBC).

A Total of 34 samples were collected from patients suffering from cholecystolithiasis who were subjected to laparoscopic cholecystectomy by the same surgeon at Al-Sadr Teaching Hospital in Basra City for the period (31st of January 2016 to 30th of April 2016).

While recovery from remifentanil is fast due to its rapid metabolism, it can induce hyperalgesia by activation of N-methyl-D-aspartic acid (NMDA) receptors. Therefore, administration of NMDA receptor antagonists such as ketamine is effective in relieving hyperalgesia caused by remifentanil.
