Lentil is a self-pollinated annual diploid (2n = 2× = 14) crop with a restricted history of genetic improvement through breeding, particularly when compared to cereal crops. This limited breeding has probably contributed to the narrow genetic base of local cultivars, and a corresponding potential to continue yield increases and stability.

Fusarium wilt is a soil-borne disease, which negatively affects the lentil crop widespread in India and affecting the lentil crop productivity. So the present study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of bioagents against wilt pathogen Fusarium oxysporum f.sp.lentis of lentil crop through antagonistic activity. Rhizospheric strains were isolated from wilt affected lentil plant in different regions of Eastern UP like Faizabad, Mau, Varanasi, Ghazipur. A total of 20 bacterial strains were isolated and tested for antagonistic activity by co-culture m

Lentil (Lens culinaris Medik.), one of the major pulses cultivated and consumed in India, is also known as Masur. It has a high nutritive value and major source of dietary proteins (25%) after soybeans in human and animal diet. Fusarium wilt of lentil caused by Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. lentis is the most serious disease of lentil.

In the present investigation lentil genotypes; one macrosperma (IPL-406) and the other microsperma (HUL-57) were subjected to drought stress at mid-vegetative, flowerinitiation and pod-formation stages by withholding irrigation. We observed that drought stress of various phenophases significantly decreased shoot length (8% - 22%), leaf area (23% - 52%), CMS (26% - 58%) and phenological developments (0 - 14 DAS) but increased root length (14% - 63%) of plants. Pre anthesis accumulated biomass and nitrogen within the plants parts viz.

Lentil (Lens culinaris Medik subsp. culinaris) is an autogamous diploid (2n=2x=14), cool season food legume crop cultivated globally. Genomic resources in lentil are limited in comparison with other food legumes, primarily due to large genome size and lack of genetic variation. The present study was aimed to evaluate a set of recombinant inbred lines (RILs) derived from L9-12 × FLIP 2004-7L under irrigated condition and to identify the high yielding rust resistant recombinant inbred lines in lentil.

Fifty genotypes of lentil were evaluated under normal soil condition in the field of Institute of Agriculture, Visva-Bharati University to assess genetic divergence using Mahalanobis‟s D2 analysis. The genotypes which were being developed at different crop improvement research centers across India and Bangladesh were collected for present investigation. Experiment was carried out over two crop seasons of 2017-18 and 2018-19 in Randomized Block Design with three replicates.

Lentil (Lens culinaris Medik) is an important crop, the major states producing lentil are Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Punjab. Lentil is an important component of farming systems in our country. It is one of the important and most nutritious rabi pulses. Vascular wilt causing by Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. lentis, Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc. causing collar rot and Sclerotinia sclerotiorum (Lib.) de Bary) causing stem rot, is most destructive soil borne diseases of lentil growing area worldwide. Use of chemicals continues to be major strategy to mitigate the menace of crop disease.

Thidiazuron (TDZ) is among the most active cytokinin like substances and induces greater in vitro shoot proliferation than many other cytokinins in many plant species. Leaf, stem, stem node and cotyledonary node explants of 2 extensively cultivated Turkish lentil cultivars, Ali Dayi and Kayi 91, were cultured on Murashige and Skoog (MS) media supplemented with various concentrations of TDZ.

Lentil, which belongs to the family Leguminosae (Fabaceae), is a diploid (2n = 2x = 14 chromosomes) self-pollinating crop with a genome size of 4063 Mbp. Because of its nutritional importance and role in the fixation of nitrogen from the atmosphere, lentil is a widely used crop species in molecular genetic studies.
