This paper investigated the effect of important factors on SLMSD performance to recover indium from etching solution such as: pH of feed solution, extractant (Di-(2-ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid (D2EHPA)) concentration, oxalic acid concentration. It was found that 99.5 % In3+ was removed from feed solution in about 20 minutes with high concentration factor (4.5) under suitable conditions (pH 1; 0.6M Di-(2- ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid (D2EHPA), 2 wt% oxalic acid).

Lipid rafts are liquid-ordered membrane microdomains with a unique protein and lipid composition found on the plasma membrane of most, if not all, mammalian cells. A large number of signalling molecules are concentrated within rafts, which have been proposed to function as signalling centres capable of facilitating efficient and specific signal transduction. This review summarizes current knowledge regarding the composition, structure, and dynamic nature of lipid rafts, as well as a number of different signalling path- ways that are compartmentalized within these microdomains....

BAP31 is a 28-kDa integral membrane protein of the endoplasmic reticulumwhose cytosolicdomaincontains two caspase recognition sites that are preferentially cleaved by initiator caspases, such as caspase-8. Recently,we reported that the caspase-resistant BAP31 inhibited Fas-mediated apoptotic membrane fragmentation and the release of cytochromec from mitochondria in KB epithelial cells (Nguyen M.,Breckenridge G.,Ducret A &Shore G. (2000) Mol. Cell.Biol.20,6731–6740).

The HIV-1 encoded virus protein U (VpU) is required for efficient viral release from human host cells and for induction of CD4 degradation in the endoplasmic reticulum. The cytoplasmic domain of the membrane protein VpU (VpUcyt) is essential for the latter activity. The structure and dynam-ics of VpUcyt were characterized in the presence of membrane simulating dodecylphosphatidylcholine (DPC) micelles by high-resolution liquid state NMR.

Protein sorting and assembly in membrane biogenesis and function involves the creation of ordered domains of lipids known as membrane rafts. The rafts are comprised of all the major classes of lipids, including glycero-phospholipids, sphingolipids and sterol. Cholesterol is known to interact with sphingomyelin to form a liquid-ordered bilayer phase.

Background: Pancreatic cancer is one of the most aggressive human tumors due to its high potential of local invasion and metastasis. The aim of this study was to characterize the membrane proteomes of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) cells of primary and metastatic origins, and to identify potential target proteins related to metastasis of pancreatic cancer.
