Liver transaminases

Hyperbilirubinemia and transaminitis are rarely associated with a disorder of endocrine function. It mostly manifests as a cholestatic pattern of liver injury. Herein, a 25-year-old female patient with a past medical history of congenital hypopituitarism due to pituitary ectopia presented with serum direct bilirubin level of 9.9 mg/dL and aspartate transaminase (AST)/alanine transaminase (ALT) of 60/47 U/L.

RAD140 (Testalone) is a novel selective androgen receptor modulator with very limited data currently available on adverse effects related to this compound. The first-in-human phase 1 trial was recently published and did report a significant proportion of elevated aspartate aminotransferase, alanine transaminase, and total bilirubin among the test subjects.

Liver function is routinely assessed in clinical practice as liver function tests provide sensitive indicators of hepatocellular injury. However, the prognostic value of enzymes that indicate hepatic injury has never been systematically investigated in lymphoma, including diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL).

A 21-year-old man from India presented with acute hepatitis associated with a 1-week history of abdominal pain, pruritus, and dark urine. Over a 7-day admission, the patient’s acute hepatitis evolved into acute liver failure with low-grade encephalopathy, markedly elevated transaminases, bilirubin, and impaired hepatic synthetic function. He was eventually diagnosed with acute hepatitis E virus (HEV) and was transitioned to supportive management. Acute HEV is a rare cause of acute liver failure.

These preliminary findings suggest that Hispanic children with T2DM may be at higher risk for developing non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and indicate that a comprehensive hepatic evaluation is warranted in this population. Future studies that incorporate more precise and proximal measures of liver health are warranted in this population.

Serum transaminases provide modest predictive value for hepatic steatosis in youth. The ALT threshold for predicting hepatic steatosis is significantly lower than current clinical thresholds for predicting non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

Dengue infections are currently one of the most rapidly emerging arboviral infections in the world. There is high mortality associated with severe dengue infection so we conducted study to predict various factors indicating severity of dengue infection. This cross- sectional study conducted in tertiary care hospital of central India. Data associated with various clinical features of dengue infection collected in predesigned questionnaire.

Series of biochemical and haematological changes occur during the course of dengue infection, which vary depending on the clinical disease. The patterns of change are not well documented and identifying these patterns in children with dengue infection would help to anticipate the progression to different clinical stages thus enabling effective management.

The in vitro total antioxidant and anti-inflammatory capacity of the methanol extract of Ixora duffii leaf (―Trang to‖ in Vietnamese) was investigated using the phosphomolypdenum method and the bovine serum albumin denaturation test, respectively. The results showed that the methanol extract of I. duffii leaf possessed relatively high antioxidant activity (OD0,5 = 15.551 ± 0.344 μg/mL) compared to that of the standard, trolox (OD0,5=2.315 ± 0.083 μg/mL). The antiinflammatory effect using bovine serum albumin denaturation test showed that the activity of the methanol extract of I.
