This thesis represents the first comprehensive study on the performance (raw and risk-adjusted), performance persistence, and market timing ability of the equity funds in Hong Kong Mandatory Provident Funds (MPF) scheme during the period 2001 – 2004. Regardless of the measure used (Jensen single-index alpha measure, Fama-French three-factor alpha measure, and modified Jensen alpha controlled by changes in exchange rates), US equity funds and Pacific-Basin excluding Japan equity funds, are found to consistently underperform relative to the market.

Many East Asian economies experienced rapid economic growth since the early 1960’s, with Singapore and Malaysia being two of the best performers. Various factors have contributed to this growth. They include export-orientated policies, capital investment, a market-friendly approach and an institutional regulatory framework that attracts foreign investors. Another factor is the role of human capital in the form of formal and informal education. Human capital has been researched at both the theoretical and empirical levels.

This dissertation is based on the study and evaluation of SMEs using Salesforce.com services and its adoption framework in Brazil. For this study 170 Salesforce.com users from different SMEs organizations, were surveyed, a number of quantitative measurements were performed to provide a better understanding of some of the adoption aspects. The main conclusion from this study shows for a better adoption companies should use these solutions as part of a strategic effort for the organization.

Since the issuance of Executive Order 12862 for "Setting Customer Service Standards," customer satisfaction measurement has become prominent in the Federal Government. As part of "creating a government that works better and costs less" the National Performance Review suggested "putting customers first." The thrust of this initiative is to have the Federal Government function more like private industry. The competitive markets of the private sector have created a climate which is customer focused and the Federal Government is attempting to follow suit.
