  • In this study seasonal changes in the geochemical and stable isotope compositions of Hisaralan thermal waters in Simav Graben, western Turkey, were investigated with regards to a variety of mineral-water interactions and mixing processes. The Hisaralan and Emendere geothermal waters, with temperatures of up to 99 °C, were mostly of Na-HCO3 and Ca-HCO3 types. The δ18O and δ2 H values of the Hisaralan waters ranged from –9.32‰ to –8.73‰ and –65.02‰ to –61.10‰, with maximum seasonal differences of 0.3‰ and 1.8‰. The Emendere waters were represented by a more positive range of δ2 H values (–54.

  • The present investigation was carried out to assess the distribution of zooplankton in seagrass ecosystem in comparison with that of the coastal waters without seagrasses in Gulf of Mannar. Water and plankton samples were collected from the seagrass ecosystem (Station 1) and the control station without seagrasses (station 2) from September 2016 to May 2017. The physico chemical parameters were analysed and the mean values of surface water temperature, salinity, pH, dissolved oxygen, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, silicate, gross primary productivity and chlorophyll-a were 27.72⁰ C, 34.

  • The present study was undertaken to evaluate the nutritional quality and value addition of Black gram grown in H.P. Three cultivars/varieties of Black gram viz. UG-218, HIM MASH and Local cultivar were taken for the study. The various biochemical parameters studied were physico-chemical characteristics, proximate compositional, nutritional quality, functional properties and anti-nutritional constituents. The results of the investigation showed that UG-218 had maximum length, breadth and 1000 seed weight as compared to HIM MASH and Local cultivar.

  • Protein-lipid film is a very popular food material which can be prepared from various protein foods. A remarkable example of the protein-lipid film is a traditional soybean food which is a cream-yellow bland flavoured surface film of high nutritional value (soy protein-lipid film, designated as Yuba or soymilk skin), which is formed during the heating of soymilk. The protein digestion rate of the protein-lipid film is almost 100%.

  • The study was conducted on six red wine varieties (Syrah, Caladoc, Grenache Noir, Tempranillo, Cabernet Franc and Nielluccio) at the farm of ICAR-National Research Centre for Grapes, Pune. Five year old vines of these varieties were selected for the study. The grapes were harvested at about 23°Brix TSS. Anthocyanins, total phenols, tannins, reducing sugar, carbohydrate and protein were quantified in different parts of berries viz.; seed, skin and pulp. Among the different varieties, TSS and acidity showed non-significant effect while highest pH value (3.

  • Single spinel phases of Mn0.5Ni0.1Zn0.4NdxFe2xO4 ferrite samples (x = 0.0, 0.01, 0.02, 0.05, 0.075, and 0.1) have been prepared by ceramic method and the composition dependence of the physical and magnetic properties has been investigated. SEM micrographs and EDX analysis revealed that there is no considerable effect for the Nd3+ ion substitution on the average grain size or porosity, whereas its concentration in the grain boundaries is higher than that in the grains. Saturation magnetization (MS) increased with the Nd3+ ion concentration (x) and reached a maximum value at x = 0.05.

  • A series of composite materials of general molecular formula (1 x) Na2SO4 (x) LDT was prepared by solid state reaction method. The phase structure and functionalization of these materials were defined by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) respectively. Differential thermal analysis (DTA) revealed that the hump of phase transition at 250 C has decreased while its thermal stability was enhanced.

  • Global vegetation monitoring with remotely sensed data has the potential of improving our knowledge about the characteristics and spatial distribution of the earth’s land cover. The purpose of this study was to assess vegetation response to different rainfall regimes using bi-weekly MVC (Maximum Value Composite) AVHRR (Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer) data.

  • Polymer cement mortar (PCM) is a widely used cementitious repairing material due to its considerable adhesive property with concrete. However, the polymers are sensitive to elevated temperatures. The behaviours of polymers and PCM at elevated temperatures (e.g., 60 °C) for short, moderate duration and cyclic conditions remain unknown and need to be explored. This work was aimed at studying the mechanical performance of PCM and PCM-concrete composites under the aforementioned exposure conditions.

  • An extensive investigation of photon interaction properties has been made for ZnxTe100-x alloys (where x ¼ 5, 20, 30, 40, 50) to explore its possible use in sensing and shielding gamma radiations. The results show better and stable response of ZnTe alloys for various photon interaction properties over the wide energy range, with an additional benefit of ease in fabrication due to lower melting points of Zn and Te. Mass attenuation coefficient values show strong dependence on photon energy as well as composition.

  • The coercively Hc of the composite wire FexNi100-x/Cu varied with composition and achieved the lowest value of 1.49 Oe with the wire composition of Fe54Ni46/Cu. MI effect was strongly influenced by the wire composition and corresponded well with the change of coercively. the maximum values of MIrmax were 110% (f = 4.5 Hz) and 23% (f = 10.7 Hz) with the wire composition of Fe54Ni46/Cu.

  • Magnetic measurements indicate a dependence of the squareness and the coercivity of the magnetization hysteresis loop on pH values with a maximum coercivity of 1425 Oe. The morphological properties of CoNiP nanowires were studied by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The chemical composition was determined by examination of the energy dispersive X-ray (EDS) spectra and the magnetic properties were measured by vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM).

  • The effect of maleic anhydride grafted polypropylene (MAPP) on mechanical properties of bamboo fiber mat reinforced polypropylene composites (BMRPC) was studied. The results showed that mechanical properties of the composite depend on the amount of MAPP and those attained maximum values at 6 % MAPP. The effects of bamboo fiber mat contents on mechanical properties were also investigated. Maximum values for the tensile, flexural and impact strengths of BMRPC were obtained at a bamboo fiber mat content 45% (by weight).

  • FeedTree aware client applications should be able to examine conventional RSS feed data to discover if up- dates to that feed will be published through FeedTree. To do this, FeedTree metadata can be added to the RSS document structure to signal that it is available for sub- scription in the overlay. In this way, a FeedTree appli- cation bootstraps the subscription process with a one- time HTTP request of the conventional feed. All future updates are distributed through incremental RSS items published in FeedTree.

  • In the synthesis of ammonia, under industrial conditions, the reaction normally comes sufficiently close to equilibrium for the applications of thermodynamics to prove of immense value. t Thus it will predict the influence of changes of pressure, temperature and composition on the maximum attainable yield. By contrast in the catalytic oxidation of ammonia the yield of nitric oxide is determined, not by the opposition of forward and backward reactions, as in ammonia synthesis, but by the relative speeds of two independent processes which compete with each other for the available ammonia.
