In this work, SrFe12O19 samples were synthesized by hydrothermal method. We systematically studied the influence of an alkaline environment (NaOH) with the molar ratio (R) of 2 , 3 and 4 on the structure, magnetic properties of SrFe12O19 particles prepared by hydrothermal method. The relation between morphology, magnetic properties and microwave absorption properties of materials have been investigated.

In this work, we present the recent study in the microwave absorption performances of the Cu0.5Ni0.5Fe2O4@polyaniline (CNF@PANI). This material has been synthesized by polymerization and hydrothermal reaction process. The PANI fiber structure with the whole cover of CNF nanoparticles could establish the improvement of microwave absorption performances.

Microwave absorbing materials (MAMs) are essential materials for mitigating the bad effects of electromagnetic interference and microwave pollution. SrFe12-2xCux/2Cox/2TixO19 samples showed their superior microwave absorption performances in both reflection loss and effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) values for the normal incident angle of the microwave. Between these parameters, EAB values expressed how large a frequency the MAM could be used for practical applications.

Rocks contain a large number of elements such as Na, K, Ca, Mg, Fe, Mn, and Ti. The determination of those element contents is important in geological and geographical exploration as well as the original identification and classification of rocks. In the present study, we analyzed rock samples after being treated by microwave using flame atomic and molecular absorption spectroscopy.

The synthesis, characterization, and spectroscopic properties of novel nonperipherally tetrasubstituted metallophthalocyanines (zinc, cobalt, copper, manganese, and indium) bearing 4 (7-(trifluoromethyl)quinolin-4-yl)oxy units has been reported. The new compounds have been characterized using UV-Vis, IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, 19F NMR, and mass spectroscopic data. The absorption properties of these new complexes were compared to those of peripherally substituted phthalocyanine derivatives.

The complexes of peripherally tetra-substituted metal-free (8), lead(II) (9), and zinc(II) (10) phthalocyanine derivatives were synthesized for the first time in this work. The structures of these new complex compounds have been elucidated using many spectral methods such as electronic absorption, FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, elemental analysis, and mass spectra. The thermogravimetric behavior of compounds 8–10 was determined by thermogravimetric analysis method in addition to these spectral methods.

The proposed system is composed of two symmetric disk-pair layers, called the disk-pair dimer, that exhibited two identical but coupled magnetic resonances at the same frequency. This unique design allows to absorb the electromagnetic energy at the transmission mode, which is rarely achieved in the conventional modes. By optimizing the coupling strength between two disk-pair layers, a total absorptivity could be enhanced up to 90%.

In this paper, a composite of reduced graphene oxide (RGO), manganese/zinc ferrite (Mn0.8Zn0.2Fe2O4 - MZF) nanoparticles, and porous polyaniline (PANI) was successfully synthesized to improve microwave absorption properties exclusively in X-band. The experimental results demonstrate that the synthesized ternary composite had RGO nanosheets decorated mostly with MZF nanoparticles, and porous PANI was uniformly coated onto the surface of RGO-MZF.

The performance of a microwave absorbing material (MAM) is often characterized by a negative reflection loss (RL) which is due to the material’s strong absorption and weak reflection of electromagnetic radiation. An absolute absorption can theoretically be achieved in a MAM that has equal permittivity and permeability (er=ur) to satisfy the impedance matching condition Z=Z0 (Z and Z0 are the intrinsic impedance of the material and the impedance of incident medium, respectively).

Since the first observation of the fascinating absorption property, metamaterials have been become a scientific spotlight. A distinctive interest has been given to metamaterial absorber (MA) with a broad operating band, which are more useful for future applications. In this report, we studied numerically and experimentally the electromagnetic properties of perfect MAs using ring-shaped structures at microwave frequencies. By creating a magnetic resonance, the ring structure confines electromagnetic energy at the first- and third-order resonances.

Sweet chestnut (Castanea sativa Mill.) belongs to the family Fagaceae and sub family Castaneoideae. Bioactive components such as tannins are present in sweet chestnut in high proportion giving astringent bitter taste and reducing their palatability. Roasting reduces the anti-nutritional factors in chestnut. This study was conducted to compare the effects of pan and microwave roasting on physicochemical, functional, rheological and antioxidant properties of sweet chestnut. Antioxidant activity was determined using DPPH inhibition activity, reducing power, and total phenolic content.

In this work, a multi-band metamaterial perfect absorber is demonstrated numerically and experimentally in the microwave region based on the breaking symmetry of geometrical structure. Initially, when the structure, which is designed in the X shape, is in the symmetric geometry, only one absorption peak is observed.

In this report, we experimentally and numerically demonstrated a simple metamaterial structure, which perfectly absorbs the microwave radiation. Samples are prepared using the photo-lithography technique and measured by the standard microwave vector network analyzer. Simulations using the finite integration technique are performed to explore the possible mechanism of the observation. It is found that the absorbed energy not only dissipates via material losses, as it was believed, but also reradiates as secondary sources.
