Ebook "Minerals and lipids profiles in cardiovascular disorders in South Asia: Cu, Mg, Se, Zn and lipid serum profiles for the example of patients in Pakistan" correlates different minerals and lipids serum profiles with the prevalence of cardiovascular disorders in South Asian countries with special emphasis on Pakistan. Cardiovascular disorders (CVD, e.g. coronary heart diseases, hypertension, rheumatic heart disease, angina, heart failure and deep vein thrombosis) show significantly increasing rates in South Asian countries like Pakistan and have become a major health problem.

The leaves of G. latifolia have long been employed in ethnomedical practices, and as food additive among the local populations in Nigeria. This study was carried out to evaluate the nutritive value of G. latifolia through the proximate, mineral and phytochemical analysis of G. latifolia leaf meal (GLLM), as well as analysis of amino acid profile of GLLM protein.

The results showed that SOM content was higher in horizon A, whereas mineral matrix elements Al, Fe, and Mg contents were higher in horizon B. Ca and P contents gradually decreased with soil depth due to the influence of fertilizer. Three types of trace element concentration profiles were identified: (1) decrease with depth for Cd and Hg

Peel of vegetables and fruits are of the most important part that helps in protecting the body from diseases, getting rid of the free radicals, as they contain vitamins and minerals which are antioxidant, in addition to phenols. Previous studies have proved the existence of vitamin C, E, and B6 in banana peels, especially vitamin C that can act as an antioxidant.

Osteoporosis and cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are 2 major public health problems. Osteoporosis and CVDs may be linked but the association between lipid profile and osteoporosis is still controversial. The purpose of this study was to examine the associations of total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and triglyceride (TG) with osteoporosis.

In monogastric animals, phosphorus (P) homeostasis is maintained by regulating intestinal absorption, bone mobilization, and renal excretion. Since P is a non-renewable resource, a shortage is imminent due to widespread over-usage in the farming and animal husbandry industries. As a consequence, P efficiency should be improved in pig production. We sought to characterize the transcriptional response in re−/absorbing and excreting tissues in pigs to diets varying in calcium: phosphorus ratios.

Puccinellia tenuiflora is the most saline-alkali tolerant plant in the Songnen Plain, one of the three largest soda saline-alkali lands worldwide. Here, we investigated the physicochemical properties of saline-alkali soils from the Songnen Plain and sequenced the transcriptomes of germinated P. tenuiflora seedlings under long-term treatment (from seed soaking) with saline-alkali soil extracts.

The present investigation was carried out to study effect of processing on the seeds which were used for inclusion in the energy bars of sports person. The seeds selected for the study were Flax, Chia, Pumpkin and Finger millet seeds. Proximate parameters and mineral estimation were done to assess the nutritional profile of all the seeds. The result shows that protein content of the seeds were increased significantly during germination while it was decreased significantly during roasting and popping.

Antidesma bunius known as ‘currant tree’ is a popular fruit in several Asian countries. During our exploration of wild fruits of Manipur, India, we identified this edible fruit growing naturally in their wild habitat. An exhaustive biochemical analyses revealed very high concentration of mineral contents relative to other well known fruits. Correlation analysis showed significant relationship between ascorbic acid content and antioxidant oxidant activity.

Microfilariae were detected using modified Knott technique and microfilariae of Dipetalonema (Acanthocheilonema) reconditum was more common (23 cases; 69.69%) than Dirofilaria immitis (10 cases; 30.30%). Apparently healthy asymptomatic ten dogs were kept as control.

Twenty four female KF calves were selected and distributed randomly into 4 groups of 6 animals each based on their body weight and age in a randomised block design (RBD). In group T1, the concentrate mixture consisted of mineral mixture without iodine. The animals in group T2 and T3 were supplemented with iodine at 0.25 and 0.5 ppm of dietary DM while in group T4, 4 micronutrients i.e. chromium, niacin, vitamin E and Zn were supplemented @ 1.5, 600 40 and 40 ppm, respectively for 150 days.
