Moment of inertia

This article introduces a KBF designed for a simplified spatial vehicle model that uses only the vertical, roll, and pitch velocity of the sprung mass as measured outputs to estimate the sprung mass and roll and pitch moment of inertia of a two-axle truck.

This study aims to construct the finite element models of front structures of vehicle based on the original finite element models. Those new car models must be maintained important values such as mass and center of gravity position. By using condition boundaries, inertia moment is kept unchanged on new model. The original car models, which are provided by the National Crash Analysis Center (NCAC), validated by using results from experimental crash tests.

This paper presented a method to reduce the torsional vibration of a shaft system with dynamic vibration absorber (DVA). A theoretical method was introduced to determine optimal parameters of the DVA, which included spring stiffness, viscous coefficient of damper, mass moment of inertia of the absorber, number, and radial position of springs and dampers. First, system equations of motion of the shaft and the DVA were elaborated using Finite Element method (FEM) and solved by Runge-Kutta algorithm to find the torsional vibration response.

The paper presents the results of the research to determine the rotation mass coefficient of Hyundai Starex by theory (based on the experimental data set of rotation details of the crankshaft mechanism, components of the drivetrain system and use of Inventor software) combined with experimentation (test vehicle on a roller test bed). The research results are used as input parameters for simulation models, calculating parameters for evaluating the quality of linear motion dynamics of Hyundai Starex cars.
