Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) has rarely been applied in plant science, particularly to study plant resistance to abiotic and biotic stresses. In this study, we evaluated the freezing resistance of floribunda roses (Rosa Floribunda) during frost dehardening using the EIT technique to identify a new method for rapid and nondestructive measurement of plant freezing resistance.

In this work, a critical review of the current nondestructive probing and image analysis approaches is presented, to revealing otherwise invisible or hardly discernible details in manuscripts and paintings relevant to cultural heritage and archaeology. Multispectral imaging, X-ray fluorescence, Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and Thermography are considered, as techniques for acquiring images and spectral image sets; statistical methods for the analysis of these images are then discussed, including blind separation and false colour techniques.

The Nondestructive testing science is a broad field that covers variety of testing methods and applications, in addition to the associated pre and post processing mathematics. In terms of methods and techniques the Nondestructive testing modalities rely on different physical phenomena such as the electromagnetism, the acoustic emission, the thermal emission and the penetration of high-energy radiation through materials and structures.

The technique can be applied for chlorophyll level monitoring in basic photosynthesis research, agriculture, horticulture, and forestry. Abiotic stress (water deficit, salinity, heat, heavy metals soil contamination, intense light, etc) affects significantly crop growth and yield in agricultural areas all over the world. Thus, it is imperative to study their effect upon the crops and discriminate among abiotic stresses using new noninvasive and nondestructive remote sensing precision diagnostic techniques.

Chlorophyll fluorescence represents an intrinsic signal emitted by plants that can be employed to monitor their physiological state including changes of the photosynthetic apparatus, developmental processes of leaves, state of health, stress events, stress tolerance, and also to detect diseases or nutrient deficiency of plants. In particular, the application of laser induced chlorophyll fluorescence spectroscopy has drawn much attention recently owing to the non-invasive and nondestructive nature of the technique (Svanberg, 1995; Lang & Lichtenthaler, 1991; Chappelle et al., 1984)....

This manual describes the inspection, evaluation, and repair of hydraulic steel structures, including preinspection identification of critical locations (such as fracture critical members and various connections) that require close examination. Nondestructive testing techniques that may be used during periodic inspections or detailed structural inspections are discussed. Guidance is provided on material testing to determine the chemistry, strength, ductility, hardness, and toughness of the base and weld metal....

This phenomenon is known intuitively since the beginning of knowledge and research science for at least a century. Of ice cracking and snapping of twigs common examples. In recent decades, ultrasound has been used as a methods of nondestructive testing. A considerable body of techniques developed to allow applications to monitor bridges, pressure vessels, tanks, ... These devices great sensitivity to high frequency motion.
