  • This paper represents the nonlinear bending analysis of a functionally graded porous (FGP) micro-plate resting on an elastic foundation through the modified couple stress theory and the Kirchhoff plate theory (KPT) together with the von-Kármán’s geometrical nonlinearity. The FGP micro-plate with even and uneven distributions of porosities are considered. Analytical solutions for the nonlinear bending is obtained.

  • In the present paper, a 2D nonlinear beam element based on the geometrically exact formulation for large displacement theory of beams developed by Zienkiewicz [7] is formulated on the basis of the first-order shear deformation theory and the total Lagrangian method. The displacements of the element are described through the original (reference) configuration.

  • In this paper, geometrical nonlinear flutter analysis of functionally graded carbon nanotubes reinforced composite plates is presented. The governing equations of the system are obtained using the Mindlin plate theory and von Karman geometric nonlinearity. The linear piston theory is utilized to determine the aerodynamic pressure. Applying the Hamilton principle, equations of motion of a system are derived in the matrix form, and then the finite element method is used to obtain the discretized equations.

  • In the paper "Nonlinear static analysis of bidirectional functionally graded sandwich plates using a higher-order finite element formulation" the nonlinear static behaviors of bidirectional functionally graded sandwich (BFGSW) plates are investigated using a finite element procedure. The plates consist of three layers, a homogeneous core and two bidirectional functionally graded face sheets. A nonlinear finite element formulation in sense of the von Karman nonlinear strain-displacement relation is derived in the basis of a higher-order shear deformation theory.

  • The nonlinear buckling behaviors of the functionally graded graphene platelet reinforced composite (FG-GPLRC) doubly curved shallow shells under external pressure in the thermal environment are introduced and investigated in this paper. The Donnell shell theory and the strain-displacement relationship of von Karman are used. At the bottom surface of FG-GPLRC doubly curve shallow shells, the FG-GPLRC stiffener system in the transverse, longitudinal, or/and oblique directions is installed to increase the bearing capacity of the shallow shells.

  • The paper "Nonlinear vibration of functionally graded porous micro-beams resting on elastic foundation" presents the analysis of nonlinear vibration of functionally graded porous (FGP) micro-beams resting on an elastic foundation. The Euler-Bernoulli beam theory (EBT) and the nonlocal strain gradient theory (NSGT) are considered to establish the equations of motion of the micro-beam. The material properties of the micro-beam are assumed to be changed continuously along thickness direction according to simple power-law distribution.
