We present the solution of a second-order nonlinear parabolic interface problem on a quasiuniform triangular finite element with a linearized four-step implicit scheme used for the time discretization. The convergence of the scheme in L2-norm is established under certain regularity assumptions using interpolation and elliptic projection operators.

Given a compact four dimensional manifold, we prove existence of conformal metrics with constant Q-curvature under generic assumptions. The problem amounts to solving a fourth-order nonlinear elliptic equation with variational structure. We establish the existence of solutions and we obtain information on qualitative properties as multiplicity and location of solutions.
