The suitable crop establishment options with appropriate amount of residue retention may lower weed infestation, better crop growth, productivity, profitability and soil health. The overall goal of the present experiment was to assess the impacts of different crop establishment options on rice growth and yield in eastern Uttar Pradesh, India. Specific objective of the study was to determine the effects of different crop establishment methods on productivity and profitability of rice.

The present study was conducted in 2014–15 in five tehsils (Behat, Deoband, Nakur, Rampur Maniharan and Saharanpur) of Saharanpur district which is north-western part of Uttar Pradesh, India to observe the effect of shading of border plantation of poplar (Populus deltoides) on wheat crop. The four parameters (total tillers per plant, ineffective tillers per plant, grain yield and biological yield) were recorded.

Phenotypic stability was studied in 12 fababean genotypes grown at six locations in northern plains of India. Significant genotype (G) × environment (E) interactions were observed for grain yield. Among the linear and non-linear components of G × E interaction, linear component was predominant for yield of fababean.

Drainage wil l be of crucial importance to the success of the development proposals for the Boa Plain. Flooding is caused by a combination of heavy local rainfall and overflow from the rivers that flow across the plain.
