Northern provinces of Vietnam

This study aimed to diagnose swine dysentery (SD) caused by Brachyspira hyodysenteriae in pigs by the PCR method in Vietnam. Of the 250 samples, 29 isolates of B. hyodysenteriae (11.60%) were identified by PCR in seven provinces of Northern Vietnam, and the infection rate differed from region to region.

The studies involving water bugs (Hemiptera) biodiversity and ecology are very few and have mainly focused on taxonomy. We conducted research and evaluation of diversity indexes of water bugs (Hemiptera) in different landscapes including forest habitats, agricultural lands, ponds, streams from 16 sampling sites in Bac Kan, Lao Cai, Ninh Binh and Ha Tinh provinces. As a result, a total of 43 species of 23 genera of 10 families were recorded.

Larvae and juveniles of Saddleback silver-biddy (Gerres limbatus Cuvier, 1830) were collected using a small seine net from the bank waters of the Tien Yen Estuary, Quang Ninh Province, in northern Vietnam. These larvae and juveniles are compressed and relatively slender. Weak spinations are present on the head and on the preopercle.

In this study, Trachemys scripta is recorded as invasive alien species from the area. In terms of herpetological distribution, mostly recorded species were found in the evergreen forest habitat (6 species of amphibians and 7 species of reptiles).
