By the end of grade one, students learn to understand and use the concept of ones and tens in the place value number system. Students add and subtract small numbers with ease. They measure with simple units and locate objects in space. They describe data and analyze and solve simple problems.

The prediction of the expected long-term performance of concrete exposed to sewage and similar materials can be difficult as it is affected by a large number of parameters. In addition, the deterioration process in concrete is generally slow. The focus of the study was to ascertain the life expectancy of concrete septic tanks located in rural Victoria. In developing the accelerated test method, ASTM C 192, ASTM C 452, ASTM C 1293 and ASTM C 109 standard procedures were adopted wherever possible.

This paper presents a model to solve the multi-objective location-routing problem with capacitated vehicles. The main purposes of the model are to find the optimal number and location of depots, the optimal number of vehicles, and the best allocation of customers to distribution centers and to the vehicles.

A technique has been developed to search a proteome database for new members of a functional class of membrane protein. It takes advantage of the highly conserved secondary structure of functionally related membrane proteins. Such proteins typically have the same number of transmembrane domains located at similar relative positions in their polypeptide sequence. This gives rise to a characteristic pattern of peaks in their hydropathy profiles.

We have analyzed the response of a number of human cell lines to treatment with antisense oligodeoxynucleotides (ODNs) directed against RNA polymerase II, replication protein A, and Ha-ras. ODN-delivery to the cells was liposome-mediated or via electroporation, which resulted in dierent intracellular locations of the ODNs. The ODN-mediated target mRNA reduction varied consider-ably between the cell lines.

The structural stability of the large cytoplasmic domain (H4 -H5loop) of mouse a1subunit of Na + /K + ATPase (L354– I777), the number and the location of its binding sites for 2¢-3¢-O-(trinitrophenyl) adenosine 5¢-triphosphate (TNP-ATP) andp-nitrophenylphosphate (pNPP) were investi-gated. C- and N-terminal shortening revealed that neither part of the phosphorylation (P)-domain are necessary for TNP-ATP binding.

Cells in various anatomical locations are constantly exposed to mechanical forces from shear, tensile and compressional forces. These forces are signifi-cantly exaggerated in a number of pathological conditions arising from various etiologies e.g., hypertension, obstruction and hemodynamic over-load.

The M-superfamily of conotoxins has a typical Cys framework (-CC-C-C-CC-), and is one of the eight major superfamilies found in the venom of the cone snail. Depending on the number of residues located in the last Cys loop (between Cys4 and Cys5), the M-superfamily family can be divi-ded into four branches,

It is well documented that theb-gene of the catalytic (C) subunit of protein kinase A encodes a number of splice variants. These splice variants are equipped with a variable N-terminal end encoded by alternative use of sev-eral exons located 5¢ to exon 2 in the human, bovine and mouse Cbgene.

Firms, Workers, and Human Capital in Ghanaian Manufacturing My model is a much simplified version of so-called multicommunity models. I maintain the usual assumptions that the number of communities is fixed and finite, and that access to desirable communities is rationed through the real estate market.19 There is no private sector that would de-link school quality from residential location. Although some authors (i.e. Epple and Zelenitz, 1981) include a supply side of the housing market, I assume that communities are endowed with perfectly inelastic stocks of identical houses....

Campus and Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs) Metropolitan area networks (MANs) are network technologies similar in nature to local area networks (LANs), but with the capability to extend the reach of the LAN across whole cities or metropolitan areas, rather than being limited to, say, 100-200 metres of cabling. MANS have evolved because of the desire companies to extend LANs throughout company office buildings of spread across a campus or a number of different locations in a particular city.

Local Area Networks (LANs) We have seen how packet switching has contributed greatly to the efficiency and flexibility of ‘wide area’ data networks, involving a large number of devices spread at geographically diverse locations. Packet switching, however, is not so efficient for smaller scale networks, those limited to linking personal computerswithin an office building; that is the realm of an alternative type of packet-switched-like network called a local area network or LAN for short.
