  • A new, rapid, and sensitive gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS) method was developed for the determination of ezetimibe (EZE) in human plasma. EZE was derivatized prior to GC-MS analysis. Various derivatization techniques such as acetylation, methylation, and silylation were tried.   • Decolorization of Reactive Red 3 from aqueous solution by laccase immobilized on the nanocomposite was studied in different conditions (pH, temperature, dye concentration, and reaction time) to investigate the decolorization activity with repeated use and storage.   • A fluorescent probe based on benzoyl hydrazine was synthesized and characterized as an Al3+-selective fluorescent probe. This probe showed good selectivity towards Al 3+ compared to other common ions. Under optimized experimental conditions, the probe exhibited a linear dynamic response for Al 3+ from 5.0 × 10−7 to 4.5 × 10−6 M with a detection limit of 1.3 × 10−7 M in ethanol–water solution (9:1, v:v, pH 6.8, 20 mM HEPES). The procedure is based on the formation of an ion associate between the bromide complex of Hg(II) and Astrazon Red 6B dye and vortex-assisted liquid–liquid microextraction of the ion associate formed, with subsequent spectrophotometric detection.
