In this paper, we propose a method that uses the non-uniform Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) to compensate for Doppler frequency shifts in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) based underwater acoustic (UWA) communication systems. To estimate the Doppler frequency shift, the paper proposes using a pilot carrier frequency (PCF) that is identified by transmitting with greater power in the frequency domain compared to other subcarriers.

In the present work, author combined the phase-field modeling taking into account interfacial damage with the problem of the bulk strain orthogonal decompositions by two proposed solutions. The successful prediction of the crack propagation for the inclusion-matrix structures and the multi-phases materials of X-ray computed tomography (XR-CT) images by two proposed solutions will be demonstrated in several numerical examples.

In this paper, we present a reduced-order modeling approach to study the Molten Salt Fast Reactor (MSFR). Our approach is nonintrusive and based on the proper orthogonal decomposition method. We include adaptivity in selecting the sampling points both in time and parameter space. Steady-state and transient analysis were both performed using the developed models.

Machine learning algorithms, for example support vector machine (SVM), are currently used to improve the effectiveness of the attack. One issue of using SVM-based profiled attack is extracting points of interest (POIs), or features from power traces. Our work proposes a novel method for POIs selection of power traces based on the combining variational mode decomposition (VMD) and Gram-Schmidt orthogonalization (GSO).

An Interior-point algorithm with a line-search globalization is proposed for solving the general nonlinear programming problem. At each iteration, the search direction is obtained as a resultant of two orthogonal vectors. They are obtained by solving two square linear systems. An upper-triangular linear system is solved to obtain the Lagrange multiplier vector. The three systems that must be solved each iteration are reduced systems obtained using the projected Hessian technique. This fits well for large-scale problems.

The search for optimum design variables is conducted by using a recent heuristic method, namely Grey Wolf Optimizer. During the heuristic search, direct heat conduction problem has to be solved several times. The set of heat transfer parameters that lead to smallest error rate between computed temperature field and reference one is the optimum output of the inverse problem. In order to accelerate the process, the model order reduction technique Proper-Orthogonal-Decomposition (POD) is used.

This research focus on to presents of the MQL parameters optimization approach in which the multi-response outputs based on Taguchi's L9 orthogonal array method is used. During the turning AISI-1045 steel, the cutting temperature, the maximum of tool wear, and the surface roughness were measured. The MQL parameters which are ratio of soluble lubricant and water, pressure of spray head, flow volume of emulsion was simultaneously optimized by taking the multi-response outputs using Taguchi based grey relational analysis (GRA) into consideration.

Orthogonal moments are used to represent digital images with minimum redundancy. Orthogonal moments with fractional-orders show better capabilities in digital image analysis than integer-order moments. In this work, the authors present new fractional-order shifted Gegenbauer polynomials. These new polynomials are used to define a novel set of orthogonal fractional-order shifted Gegenbauer moments (FrSGMs). The proposed method is applied in gray-scale image analysis and recognition.
