Paddy grown

The paddy area has significantly increased from 1997 to 2018 based on our research study. On the whole, there was a significant increase in the area of paddy, apart from groundnut, sugarcane and other crops grown indifferent mandals in the four districts located under the TGP command. The results based on our research study are useful to the Government for efficient crop planning in different districts of Andhra Pradesh.

Paddy (Oryza sativa L.) is the most important staple food crop in Asia. More than 90% of the world‟s paddy is grown and consumed in Asia, where 60% of the world‟s population lives. The objective of the study was to estimate consumptive water use and agronomic water productivity for different crops grown in different regions of Uttar Pradesh and to identify the regions for comparative advantage of crop production based on water productivity and crop yield. The study was based on the secondary data and it was collected from different sources. The Crop Wat model was used for estimation of consumptive water requirement for crop production.

Maize is one of the food crop grown all over Andhra Pradesh. After harvest of the cobs, farmers have the practice of burning the stalks in the field itself. To overcome this problem and to test the feasibility of utilizing maize stalks for oyster mushroom cultivation this study was carried out. In this study milky mushroom (Calocybe indica) was cultivated using maize stalks, paddy straw and with different ratios of these two substrates for three years.

Brown spot caused by (Bipolaris oryzae) is a persistent disease of Paddy (Oryza sativa L.) and associated with reduction in economic yield in the areas under dry and semi dry climate, with the nutrient poor field. Part of the paddy area under cultivation is salt affected in India, having longer water stagnation capacity, though having deficiency of organic matter and other essential nutrient, where during monsoon season only paddy is grown.

The present investigation was undertaken with the objectives to study the biochemical composition of Pleurotus florida grown on different straw substrates and activity of cellulolytic enzymes produced by Pleurotus florida under in vitro conditions. The results revealed that, the biochemical composition of P. florida raised on three straw substrates exhibited higher percentage of fat (2.33%) on soybean straw followed by wheat (1.74%) and paddy straw substrate (1.65%) on dry weight basis.

Weed is a crop which is grown along with the main crop and competes for sunlight, food, water and space. Weeding is very tedious operation as compared to all other agriculture operations. Most parts of the country weeding operation is being done by manual methods and also by mechanical methods. Drudgery involved in weeding operation increases stress on worker causing increase in heart rate and oxygen consumption. The main objective of the study was to evaluate the agronomical evaluation of power weeder. The heart rate and oxygen consumption rate of operator was varied from 131.0 to 145.

Rice is the staple food for Telangana, requires about 50 lakh tons annually to feed the population. Rice is being cultivated both in kharif and rabi season as one of the most important crop in Telangana. During the year, 2016-17 rice crop was grown in an area of about 12.2 lakh hectares and produced 47.6 lakh tons of rice with the productivity of 3902 kg/ha.

A study was undertaken in two phases to evaluate the effects of feeding fungal treated and ensiled apple pomace paddy straw based complete diet in the ration of eighteen female Corriedale sheep divided into three equal groups as per CRD. In phase-I, screening of two fungal strains namely Trichoderma viridae and Pleorotus florida, on the basis of their effects on chemical composition of paddy straw when grown for 14, 21 and 28 days respectively, was undertaken to select the best suited fungi for treatment of paddy straw to be used in experimental trial on sheep.

Coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.) is an important seed spice cultivated in India. The effort was made to cultivate and evaluate the different genotypes of coriander in hill zone (Zone-9) of Karnataka. The Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka comes under Zone-9, which receives 2500-3000 mm rainfall annually and paddy is grown as a rainfed crop during Kharif season. After the harvest of paddy the land is kept vacant, even though there is sufficient amount of residual moisture is available.

The small axial flow multicrop thresher was modified and its performance was evaluated in respect of different threshing losses at different cylinder speeds and concave clearances. Commonly available wheat/paddy threshers are not suitable for handling wide range of crops grown by farmers of hill region. Field experiments were conducted during Kharif season 2015-16 at twenty farmer’s field to refine the critical limit of Zinc in soils for rice crop grown in Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh. The soils of study sites varied in available Zn from 0.12 to 2.17 mg kg-1 and classified in three groups i.e., deficient (0.60 to 1.2 mg Zn kg-1 ). The soils were clayey, neutral to slight alkaline in reaction and low in organic carbon.

In our present study, we have isolated zinc solubilizing bacteria from rhizospheric soils of rice growing area surrounding Raichur and Koppal districts of Karnataka, India. Around 40 zinc solubilizing bacteria were isolated using TRIS-minimal agar medium (TMA) supplemented with 0.1 % ZnO. All the isolates were named after zinc solubilization such as MZSB-1 to MZSB-40 respectively.

Use of biocontrol agents against soil borne pathogen is gaining importance in the present situation for eco-friendly management of soil borne diseases. Bioefficacy of indigenous Trichoderma spp has greater efficacy against soil borne pathogens of pulses.
