The present paper provides a case study of rice farmers in the Muda granary area, which covers the states of Kedah and Perlis, using primary data to identify the factors on the adoption of PEP among farmers. The research findings indicate that the key factors determining the farmers’ adoption of the PEP are age, secondary jobs, effective communication with the extension agency, increased rice yield, lower operating cost, lower working time in the fields, and support services, such as assistance, incentives, and facilities from the government.

This study explores the driving factors for farmers in sustainable paddy farming in Malaysia. The research is exploratory in nature, using interview and observation approaches. Three sustainability factors are focused in this study; namely the economic, social, and environmental dimensions. The results indicate that early exposure and knowledge, education and experience in sustainable agriculture are the driving force behind shifting attitudes towards sustainable agriculture and sustaining practices.

A policy of high rice prices can increase paddy farm incomes but also cause a rise in rice expenditures for farm households. Such a policy is needed to stimulate production but can harm rice consumers, especially poor families. We surveyed 284 paddy farmers in Gantar Sub-District, Indramayu Regency, Indonesia to analyze the impact of increasing rice prices on farmers’ net incomes, including poor paddy farmers. We found that a price increase benefits farmer if the price transmission elasticity is more than 0.2 for non-poor paddy farmers or 0.6 for poor paddy farmers.

The results of resreach showed that rice areas were not distributed relatively uniform in all districts and the rice yield had average level when compared with the other rice cultivation areas. Rice yields in Thai Nguyen province sharply increased from 4.87 tons/ha (2010) to 5.49 tons/ha (2020) with the slightly decreasing the rice areas, it is proved that the farmer was not concerned to increase the planting areas while they focused on rising the yield potential and quality.

The study “Investigating and estimating the greenhouse gas emissions from paddy rice lands in the coastal area of Nam Dinh province” was carried out for the purpose of calculating and identifying potential GHG emission from paddy rice production, the basis for calculating GHG emissions in agricultural production in the different climate zones, soil properties and management, serving state management of GHG inventory in the agriculture sector and providing the database for the GHG mitigation project in Nam Dinh Province.

The present study was carried out in Davanagere district of Karnataka state during the year 2018-19 to know theextent of Adoption of Paddy Seed Production Practices by the farmers of Davanagere district. A total sample consisting of 120 respondents from four major paddy seed producing taluks of the district were selected wherein three villages from each taluk and ten farmers from each village were interviewed using pre-tested interview schedule.

The paddy area has significantly increased from 1997 to 2018 based on our research study. On the whole, there was a significant increase in the area of paddy, apart from groundnut, sugarcane and other crops grown indifferent mandals in the four districts located under the TGP command. The results based on our research study are useful to the Government for efficient crop planning in different districts of Andhra Pradesh.

The production of cellulases is an important strategy for the development of sustainable second-generation ethanol production processes. The present study was undertaken to select cheap and efficient agricultural residue suitable for cellulase production using fungus Humicola insolens. Six different agricultural residues viz., paddy straw, soybean pod husk, sugarcane bagasse, groundnut shells, corn stalks and pigeonpea pod husk were used as substrate in the solid state fermentation medium.

A field study was conducted during Kharif 2014 and Kharif 2015 to evaluate the bioefficacy of fungicides (both solo and combination products) against stem rot disease of paddy. Different fungicides were tested either as seed treatment (ST), seedling dip (SD), foliar spray (FS) or in combinations. Disease was measured in 0-9 standard evaluation scale and scores were transformed into percent disease index (PDI). PDI of Kharif 2014 and Kharif 2015 were pooled to get the mean PDI.
