Osteosarcoma (OS) is the most common primary malignancy of bone tumors. More and more ARHGAP family genes have been confrmed are to the occurrence, development, and invasion of tumors. However, its signifcance in osteosarcoma remains unclear. In this study, we aimed to identify the relationship between ARHGAP family genes and prognosis in patients with OS.

Results from genome-wide association studies (GWAS) identified many loci and biological pathways that influence adult body mass index (BMI). We aimed to identify if biological pathways related to adult BMI also affect infant growth and childhood adiposity measures.

In this study, we focused on the loop modeling of the CTT domain in both the active and inactive STING conformations. After the modeling step, the active and inactive STING structures were docked to one of the cGAS-cGAMP-STING pathway members, TBK1, to observe the differences of binding modes. CTT loop stayed higher in the active structure, while all the best-scored models, active or inactive, ended up around the same position with respect to TBK1.

Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) plays a role in the tumor microenvironment. Sorafenib, which inhibits the VEGF pathway, has an immune-modulation function but lacks substantial clinical data. This study aims to explore the efficacy of anti-PD-1 combined sorafenib in advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

The detection of signatures of selection in genomic regions provides insights into the evolutionary process, enabling discoveries regarding complex phenotypic traits. In this research, we focused on identifying genomic regions affected by different selection pressures, mainly highlighting the recent positive selection, as well as understanding the candidate genes and functional pathways associated with the signatures of selection in the Mangalarga Marchador genome.

Cellular respiration is a catabolic pathway for producing adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and is the most efficient process through which cells harvest energy from consumed food. When cells undergo cellular respiration, they require a pathway to keep and transfer electrons (i.e., the electron transport chain).

The statistical evaluation of pathway enrichment, i.e. of gene profiles' confluence to the pathway level, allows exploring molecular landscapes using functionally annotated gene sets. However, pathway scores can also be used as predictive features in machine learning.

A novel pathway-based distance score enhances assessment of disease heterogeneity in gene expression
Distance based unsupervised clustering of gene expression data is commonly used to identify heterogeneity in biologic samples. However, high noise levels in gene expression data and relatively high correlation between genes are often encountered, so traditional distances such as Euclidean distance may not be effective at discriminating the biological differences between samples.

Current methods for gene-set or pathway analysis are usually designed to test the enrichment of a single gene-set. Once the analysis is carried out for each of the sets under study, a list of significant sets can be obtained.

Transcriptomic data is often used to build statistical models which are predictive of a given phenotype, such as disease status. Genes work together in pathways and it is widely thought that pathway representations will be more robust to noise in the gene expression levels.

To identify and prioritize the influential hub genes in a gene-set or biological pathway, most analyses rely on calculation of marginal effects or tests of statistical significance. These procedures may be inappropriate since hub nodes are common connection points and therefore may interact with other nodes more often than non-hub nodes do. Such dependence among gene nodes can be conjectured based on the topology of the pathway network or the correlation between them.
