This paper reviews the durability of concrete containing pozzolans in marine environments, which mainly focuses on resistance to chloride ion penetration and sulfate attack. The results of previous literature showed that the main ions of seawater are almost similar but the salinity varies with location. The mechanism of chemical reaction between seawater and concrete was carefully reviewed and explained.

Keratomycosis is a relatively common, sight threatening condition in horses, where treatment is often prolonged and costly. Subconjunctival (SCo) injections offer less resistance to drug diffusion than the topical route, resulting in better penetration to the ocular anterior segment.

Open-field farming involves successive major processes such as preparation of soil, planting the seed, adding pesticides and fertilizers, irrigation, cultivation, and harvest. The main aim of all processes is to achieve maximum yield out of the available agricultural landscape. It is necessary to collect geo-referenced descriptive data on soil characteristics, such as soil penetration resistance and electrical conductivity before starting all these processes.

Among the other 12 inpatient MRSA isolates which had the pvl gene, nine were sensitive to most of the non- beta lactam antibiotics, whereas remaining three were resistant to most of the antibiotics except vancomycin and linezolid. The presence of pvl gene can no longer be used to discriminate between CA-MRSA and HA-MRSA.

The physical and proximate analysis of the fuel used during cooking was determined. The properties viz., moisture content fixed carbon, volatile matter, ash content was determined and the physical properties like bulk densities, resistance to water penetration and the shatter resistance of agro residue briquettes were determined to know the suitability of fuel for cook stove.

Recent advances in the treatment of melanoma that involve immunotherapy and B-Raf inhibition have revolutionised cancer care for this disease. However, an un-met clinical need remains in B-Raf inhibitor resistant patients where first-generation B-Raf inhibitors provide only short-term disease control.

The development of Heterodera avenae was studied on four resistant cultivars (BH 393, BH959, RD 2035 and DWRB 91) and one susceptible cultivar (BH902). After 20 days of germination inoculation was done with second stage juveniles @ 250 J2 / pot. Plants of each cultivar were uprooted at 15 days interval after the inoculation and observations were taken till adults were formed. Roots of uprooted plants were stained with 0.1% acid fuchs in lactophenol and observations on the development stages were taken by mounting the nematode dissected out of root in lactophenol.

ntroduction of new agricultural technology created growing realization of soil physical properties limiting crop production. However, soil physical changes and their impact on crop production are less easily realized because of their exceedingly complex and dynamic nature. Since the nature and arrangement of aggregates in soils could be expected to have a profound influence on pore space, which in turn would govern air and water relations, wide use has been made of aggregate analyses to evaluate spot physical conditions.

Following the industrial revolution in the nineteenth century, agricultural machinery and tractors became available for tillage operations. Different types of tillage systems have different tillage depths and capacity to change soil physical properties that affect the crop yield and quality. Important soil physical properties such as bulk density, penetration resistance, water infiltration, hydraulic conductivity and soil compaction are affected by tillage.

Bacterial infections are a major cause of chronic infections and mortality. Drug resistant microorganisms pose a serious public health problem and strategies for controlling bacterial activity are needed. Nanoparticles have emerged as a novel alternative to overcome bacterial multidrug resistance due to misuse and abuse of antibiotics.

The present investigation was aimed to understand early infection process and plant pathogen interactions involved in tolerance and susceptibility in groundnut challenged with Sclerotium rolfsii by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The histo-pathological changes were recorded at different time intervals in two groundnut genotypes with differential reaction to stem rot disease viz., Cv: “ICGV 86590” (resistant) and Cv: “Narayani” (susceptible). These genotypes were grown in glass house and challenged with stem rot pathogen.
