Ebook "Plant growth and health promoting bacteria" to cope with the increasing problems created by agrochemicals such as plant fertilizers, pesticides and other plant protection agents, biological alternatives have been developed over the past years. These include biopesticides, such as bacteria for the control of plant diseases, and biofertilizer to improve crop productivity and quality.

Tomatoes and eggplants are foods that have a lot of nutritional values for humans. Applying farming methods to get good quality products such as being free of pathogenic microorganisms and free of heavy metals needs concerned. In this study, we analyzed cultivation soil and irrigation water samples around tomato and eggplant cultivating areas of farmers who used chemical fertilizers and pesticides.

The objective of the study "Effects of some commercial products on root and crown rot caused by Phytophthora cactorum in apple cultivation" was to evaluate the effects of eleven commercial products (bio-pesticides, fertilizers, and activators) on P. cactorum by comparing plant growth parameters (trunk diameter, plant height, number of branches, and root dry weight). Trials were conducted according to a randomized complete block design with three replicates in a greenhouse in 2 consecutive years.

This study investigates the pesticides atrazine, chlorpyrifos, and dieldrin for endocrine disrupting, phenotypic, and neurobehavioral effects. Zebrafish embryos were exposed to various environmentally relevant concentrations of pesticides during two critical windows, 0-5 days post fertilization (dpf) throughout embryogenesis and 4- 5 dpf at early larval development.

Organic agricultural production has been taking place in many countries around the world with a strong shift from traditional agriculture to sustainable agriculture in order to create high-value agricultural products with food safety, environmental protection and climate change adaptation. Organic agricultural production is considered as the natural farming with strict control of irrigation water, unpolluted soil and no use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, growth stimulants and plant varieties, livestock and materials derived from genetically modified organisms.

Open-field farming involves successive major processes such as preparation of soil, planting the seed, adding pesticides and fertilizers, irrigation, cultivation, and harvest. The main aim of all processes is to achieve maximum yield out of the available agricultural landscape. It is necessary to collect geo-referenced descriptive data on soil characteristics, such as soil penetration resistance and electrical conductivity before starting all these processes.

Massive techniques have been evaluated for developing different pest control methods to minimize fertilizer and pesticide inputs. As “push-pull” strategy utilizes generally non-toxic chemicals to manipulate behaviors of insects, such strategy is considered to be environmentally friendly.

Plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) are good alternatives for chemical fertilizers and pesticides, which cause severe environmental problems worldwide. Even though many studies focus on PGPR, most of them are limited in plant-microbe interaction studies and neglect the pathogens affecting ruminants that consume plants.

Organic agricultural techniques are utilized globally to protect our environment and prevent health issues resulting from pesticides and hazardous chemicals. Traits such as plant growth characteristics (leaves/plant and plant spread), yield characteristics (flower buds, fruits per plant and fruit yield tons/ha) and quality characteristics (juice content, total sugar content, vitamin C and specific gravity) were observed.

When better and superior seeds are used; the fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides and sprays are used; and the farm machinery like tractors, harvesters, tube wells and threshers etc., are used to enhance the agriculture output and agri. productivity - such all is given the name of Green Revolution (GR).

Finding solutions to global issues like food security entails greater use of chemicals fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides etc. posing serious risks of soil salinity, heavy metal bioaccumulation. PGPR produce enzyme ACC deaminase which degrades (ACC) 1- aminocyclopropane-1-carobylic acid the immediate precursor of the plant growth hormone ethylene, into α-ketobutyrate and ammonia, thus lowering the level of ethylene in a developing or stressed plant. In the present study, three rhizobacterial strains were isolated from rhizospheric soil of mustard plant in Allahabad region.

Plant Growth-Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) are naturally occurring soil bacteria that can enhance plant growth by wide variety of mechanisms. PGPR offers an attractive way to replace chemical fertilizer, pesticides, and supplements. Agriculture and horticulture crops inoculated with certain PGPR strains may result in multiple effect right from enhancement of seedling germination to vegetative growth to yield.

A field experiment was conducted during two consecutive years of Kharif2016 and 2017at Fertilizer Research Farm Uttari Pura, Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh). The field experiment was imposed to evaluate the effect of pesticide and integrated nutrient management systems on the content of major nutrients in the grain of basmati rice PB-1509. The importance of the NPK component is grater because they are found in lower concentrations in most Indian varieties.

An experiment was conducted at Balindi Research Complex Farm of Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, West Bengal duringRabi season of 2018-2019 to evaluate the impact of spot application of Imidacloprid 17.8 SL @ 0.3 ml per litre of water to suppress the initial population of the mustard aphid (Lipaphis erysimi) to check build up of destructive form. The pesticide was applied as spot application in three different tillage with five different fertilizers regimes in five mustard cultivars (B- 54, ADV- 414, B- 9, Bullet, TBM- 204).

Agriculture sector is the most promising sector, dealing with the lot of problems now a day’s one of the innumerable problems is labour unavailability for farming. Other problems or difficulties are extreme weather events, inadequate amount and inefficient application of fertilizer, infection, diseases, allergies and other health problems due to chemical application (fungicide, pesticide, insecticide etc.) or insect/ animal bite. FAO and ITU, together with partners, have been working together in addressing same of the challenges faced in agriculture through the use of sustainable ICTs.

The major challenge lies in feeding the overly populated country which creates more dependency on the use of fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides, and manures etc., to increase the crop yields. Use of agro chemicals coupled with waste water irrigation has resulted in rapid deterioration of soil quality due to over accumulation of heavy metals which are non degradable and persist for longer time in soils.

Cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) is a perennial shrub and a tuberous root crop well adapted to poor soils and is relatively tolerant to drought, the crop is usually grown under marginal soil and climatic conditions and often with very limited inputs of fertilizers and pesticides. In India, cassava is cultivated in varied agro climatic and pedogenic environments. In Tamil Nadu, it is cultivated mainly for industrial uses, cassava is grown in black soils (Vertisols) and red soils (Alfisols).

The study was taken up with the main objective of identifying and analyzing the adoption of package of practices by the Chilli farmers as recommended by the scientists of ANGRAU. It was conducted in 2013 with a sample of Sixty (60) tenant farmers in the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh. Cent per cent of the respondents fell in the category of fully adopted with respect to time of harvest. 86.67 per cent of the respondents fully adopted recommended doses of fertilizers; while the remaining 13.33 per cent fell in the category of partially adopted. 81.
