The aim of the study "Characterization of some local pea (Pisum sativum L.) genotypes for agro-morphological traits and mineral concentrations" is to evaluate diversity among the Turkish local pea germplasm for mineral concentrations and agro-morphological traits for breeding programs. The experiment was conducted during 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 and arranged according to an augmented block design with 40 local genotypes and two standard check cultivars (Carina and Jof).

A set of mutant pea lines carrying induced mutations within the major seed-expressed starch-branching enzyme gene has been characterised at the molecular, chemical and agronomic levels. Eight of the induced mutations, three of which predicted a premature stop codon, were compared with the naturally occurring starch-branching enzyme mutation within the same genetic background.

The objective of this study was to assess morphological and genetic diversities of 48 forage pea landraces collected from different locations at different altitudes in Turkey. Morphological, quality, and yield features were determined for the landraces and three control cultivars in three subsequent years. Genetic diversities of the landraces and cultivars were also monitored using microsatellite (SSR) markers. Our results revealed that the features of landraces are significantly different.

A thorough verification of the ability of genomic selection (GS) to predict estimated breeding values for pea (Pisum sativum L.) grain yield is pending. Prediction for different environments (inter-environment prediction) has key importance when breeding for target environments featuring high genotype × environment interaction (GEI).

Frost is a limiting abiotic stress for the winter pea crop (Pisum sativum L.) and identifying the genetic determinants of frost tolerance is a major issue to breed varieties for cold northern areas. Quantitative trait loci (QTLs) have previously been detected from bi-parental mapping populations, giving an overview of the genome regions governing this trait.

In field pea germplasm a wide range of genetic variability is present for various morphological traits; In this regard, present genotypes were dimly characterized for these morphological descriptors to establish DUS. DUS test is important so that new varieties can achieve legal access to their market or their protection under PPV&FR Act, 2001. The present paper focuses on DUS characterization for 126 genotypes of field pea with diverse origin including four checks viz., HFP 8909, HFP 715, HFP 529 and HFP 9426 grown in Augmented Design. The study was carried out during Rabi season 2018-19.

French bean and Pea are an important vegetable crop consumed by human being as green pods and dry seeds due to its high nutritive value as the source of the amino acid, lysine and tryptophan as well as provides valuable dietary protein in the human diet. Considering its use as a vegetable which fits well indifferent cropping systems, there is need for improvement and development of cultivars to specific agro ecological conditions. The knowledge of genetic diversity is an important tool for any breeding programme aimed to exploit hybrid vigour.

The investigation was carried out with 20 genotypes of pea (Pisum sativum L.) at Horticulture Research Centre (HRC) of SVPUAT, Meerut, UP during 2016-17 to study the genetic diversity among the genotypes. The experiment was laid down in randomized block design (RBD) with 03 replications. The experiment having 10 observations on the basis of 5 randomly selected plants from each replication. D 2 analysis grouped into four clusters showing the existence of considerable amount of variation among the genotypes. Maximum pod yield 73.20 q/ha was found in PB-89 genotype.

An experiment was conducted to estimate genetic variability, heritability and genetic advance of eight parent and 28 f1’s of table pea during 2018-19 and 2019-20 at HRC, SVPUA&T, Meerut (UP) 250110. The observations were recorded on various yield and yield contributing characters. Analysis of variance showed the significant variability for all the studied characters. High heritability was recorded for all characters except width of pod (55.84 %) which was medium heritability.
