Recent research is focusing on the development of bio-packaging materials by mixing different polymers to enhance the bonding strength within the matrix and combining favorable properties of the constituent materials. This work developed a bio-packaging material by combining chitosan, gelatin, and glycerol.

The main objective of this paper is to categorize the available literature (analytical/experimental). The discussion remains descriptive, and the reader is recommended to consult the cited references for specifics on parameters and mathematical models. Three phases were adopted to conduct this literature review: (a) conducting the review, (b) conducting the analysis, and (c) writing up the review.

Here we show, for the ®rst time, thein vitro formation of ®lamentous aggregates of phosphorylated tau protein in SH-SY5Y human neuroblastoma cells. The formation of suchaberrant aggregates, similar to thoseoccurringinvivoin Alzheimer's disease and other tauopathies, requires okadaic acid, a phosphatase inhibitor, to increase the level of phos-phorylated tau, and hydroxynonenal, a product of oxidative stress that selectively adducts and modi®es phosphorylated tau.

DNA polymerasec, a mitochondrial replication enzyme of yeasts and ani-mals, is not present in photosynthetic eukaryotes. Recently, DNA polyme-rases with distant homology to bacterial DNA polymerase I were reported in rice, Arabidopsis, and tobacco, and they were localized to both plastids and mitochondria.

Poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) is a widely used polymer employed to increase the circulating half-life of proteins in blood and to decrease their immuno-genicity and antigenicity. PEG attaches to free amines, typically at lysine residues or at the N-terminal amino acid. This lack of selectivity can pres-ent problems when a PEGylated protein therapeutic is being developed, because predictability of activity and manufacturing reproducibility are needed for regulatory approval.
