In this study, we evaluated and compared the effectiveness of four different protocols (D, MJ, MA, and S) for separating MPs from water of different types (brackish, marine, and river). Known combinations of MP particles (polyethylene (PE), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polystyrene (PS) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) with size ranging between 150 μm and 700 μm were spiked into water samples. Our results showed that the average recovery effectiveness of microplastics using four studied methods ranged from 53% to 86%.

Nghiên cứu này tập trung chế tạo màng composite từ polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), glycidyltrimethylammonium chloride (GTMAC), và glutaric anhydride (GA) như một màng trao đổi anion độc lập hoặc được gắn lên điện cực carbon, nghiên cứu độ hấp thu nước và khả năng dẫn ion của màng, đồng thời sử dụng điện cực phủ màng composite PVA/GTMAC/GA trong thiết bị MCDI nhằm đánh giá khả năng hoạt động của màng trao đổi ion so với màng trao đổi anion công nghiệp.

In this study, the three-dimensional Delft3D-PART model was applied to study micro-plastics transport in the Bach Dang estuary. Micro-plastics as data input for the model in this study were assessed by taking water samples by 80 μm mesh size plankton net, and sediment samples by Petersen grab.

Trong nghiên cứu này, vi khuẩn phân hủy nhựa PVC được làm giàu và phân lập từ các vùng ô nhiễm rác thải nhựa ven biển Việt Nam. Từ 18 chủng vi khuẩn phân lập, các tác giả đã lựa chọn được chủng vi khuẩn VK3 có khả năng phân hủy nhựa PVC và sử dụng vật liệu này như nguồn carbon duy nhất sau 8 tuần thử nghiệm. Kết quả phân tích trình tự gen 16S rRNA cho thấy, chủng vi khuẩn này có độ tương đồng 99% với Alcanivorax sp.

The aim of this work was to prepare metal soaps of epoxidized sunflower oil (ESO) and use them as thermal stabilizers for polyvinyl chloride (PVC). For that purpose, commercial sunflower oil was first epoxidized and then used to prepare (Ba, Zn, Pb, and Cd) metal soap derivatives, which were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The prepared metal soaps derivatives of ESO were used as thermal stabilizers for plasticized PVC.

Silver(I)-selective sensors were prepared from a solid-state contact polyvinyl chloride (PVC) membrane. (Z)-2-(2-((3-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-5-(p-tolyl)-1H -pyrrol-2-yl)imino)-5-(p-tolyl)-2H -pyrrol-3-yl)phenol was synthesized as an ionophore molecule and embedded in the silver(I)-selective PVC membrane composition. The sensor was also successfully applied in the analysis of real water samples. In real water samples prepared by standard addition method, recoveries in the range of 82.30%–95.15% were obtained.

This work reports the synthesis and properties of a new membrane based on polyvinyl chloride (PVC) grafting with polyacrylic acid (PAA) using argon (Ar) plasma. The membranes of PVC were synthesized by solutioncasting method, where PAA was deposited as an ultrathin film onto PVC using dielectric barrier discharge at atmospheric pressure with Ar gas. The surface characteristics and chemical composition of the modified membranes were analyzed by water contact angle, scanning electron microscopy, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.

This research investigates the effect of X-ray irradiation doses on the physico-chemical properties of PVC. PVC samples before and after irradiation are transferred in liquid form by using microwave digestion Mars 6 and then X-ray Powder Diffraction (XRD) to determine the structural morphological characteristics of PVC samples. XRD results show that the change of PVC polymer structure depends significantly on a radiation dose.

The blends based on polyvinyl chloride (PVC), nitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR), natural rubber (NR) and polyethylene (PE) were made by three different methods. The mechanical properties of these blends in dependence of mixing time and temperature were characterized. The result showed that the two-step blending method, where PVC and NBR were first mixed together and then blended with NR and PE, is the best one to prepare blends with high mechanical properties.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of a down-flow hanging sponge (DHS) system in treating domestic wastewater. A pilot-scale of DHS system with a capacity of 60 L was designed and fabricated from polyvinyl chloride (PVC). The dimensions of DHS system are 1.5 m in height and square surface with 0.2 m in width, consists of three identical segments connected vertically in series.

Water based polymer systems are often used for improvement in the properties of plain cement mortar or concrete. Presently, latexes of a single or combinations of polymers like polyvinyl acetate, copolymers of vinyl acetate–ethylene, styrene–butadiene, styrene–acrylic, and acrylic and styrene butadiene rubber emulsions are generally used. One of the limitations of these polymer systems is that they may re-emulsify in humid alkaline conditions. To overcome this problem, an epoxy emulsion based polymer system has been developed.

The effects of carbon nanotube (CNT) in combination with carbon black (CB) on the properties of acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (NBR)/polyvinyl chloride (PVC) (70/30) were investigated. The results reveal that the maximal tensile strength of the rubber blend was obtained by the fillers ratio of CB:CNT = 39:1. At this filler ratio, the thermal stability and heat conductivity of the rubber blend were also significantly improved.
