Gene-set analysis (GSA) has been commonly used to identify significantly altered pathways or functions from omics data. However, GSA often yields a long list of gene-sets, necessitating efficient postprocessing for improved interpretation. Existing methods cluster the gene-sets based on the extent of their overlap to summarize the GSA results without considering interactions between gene-sets.

In this paper, we propose a method for postprocessing re-identification results. The idea is to utilize information of co-occurrence persons for comparing and re-arranging given ranked lists. Experiments conducted on different datasets with several state-of-the-art methods have shown the effectiveness of our post-processing method in improving re-identification accuracy.

This study proposes an algorithm for accident diagnosis using long short-term memory (LSTM), which is a kind of RNN, which improves the limitation for time reflection. The algorithm consists of preprocessing, the LSTM network, and postprocessing. In the LSTM-based algorithm, preprocessed input variables are calculated to output the accident diagnosis results. The outputs are also postprocessed using softmax to determine the ranking of accident diagnosis results with probabilities.

We describe a word alignment platform which ensures text pre-processing (tokenization, POS-tagging, lemmatization, chunking, sentence alignment) as required by an accurate word alignment. The platform combines two different methods, producing distinct alignments. The basic word aligners are described in some details and are individually evaluated. The union of the individual alignments is subject to a filtering postprocessing phase. Two different filtering methods are also presented. The evaluation shows that the combined word alignment contains 10.

This paper presents collaborative decoding (co-decoding), a new method to improve machine translation accuracy by leveraging translation consensus between multiple machine translation decoders. Different from system combination and MBR decoding, which postprocess the n-best lists or word lattice of machine translation decoders, in our method multiple machine translation decoders collaborate by exchanging partial translation results.

In this thesis proposal I present my thesis work, about pre- and postprocessing for statistical machine translation, mainly into Germanic languages. I focus my work on four areas: compounding, definite noun phrases, reordering, and error correction. Initial results are positive within all four areas, and there are promising possibilities for extending these approaches.
