Mango fruit plays an important economic role in Côte d’Ivoire as the third major exported fruit after banana and pineapple. The main issue of the mango value chain in Côte d’Ivoire is linked to poor agricultural practices and postharvest losses due to climateric characteristics of the fruit. The aim of this study was to investigate the efficiency of bioactive edible coating made of garlic extract and cassava starch as a novel approach to enhance the postharvest quality and shelf-life of Keitt mango fruit.

Under this study, botanicals, plant volatiles, organic acids, organic salts and essential oils were used against E. carotovora subsp. carotovora under in vitro. Based on antibacterial efficacy, curative application was formulated against decay in carrot by dipping under laboratory conditions. Out of these all treatments, EC formulated consortia (cinnamon + lemongrass + thyme) oils at 0.1% given the better results against disease reduction (98.0%), weight loss (3.0%), and preserve the edible nature.

The maximum retention of fruit quality attributes were recorded in SA (600 ppm) TSS, acidity, Vitamin C and total sugar which was followed propyl galalte (450 ppm) treated fruits. Both TSS, ascorbic acid and total sugar showed similar trends of increase up to 6th days of storage followed by a decrease. However, acidity decreased continuously with enhancement of storage period. At the end of the storage, maximum TSS, total acidity, ascorbic acid and total sugars were noted under salicylic acid (600 ppm) treated fruits, followed by fruits treated with propyl gallate (450 ppm).

The modular body structure of plants enables detached plant organs, such as postharvest fruits and vegetables, to maintain active responsiveness to environmental stimuli, including daily cycles of light and darkness. Twenty-four hour light/darkness cycles entrain plant circadian clock rhythms, which provide advantage to plants.

The first edition of Specialty Cut Flowers arrived on book stands in 1993 and immediately became a highly popular book on the subject. A good deal has changed since the first edition, including the emergence of additional crops in the cut flower market and the decline of others. The world has seen new leaders, breakthroughs in medicine and science, boom and bust of economic indicators, conflicts, peace, and unimagined visions of terrorism. Through all these events, people went about their business. Companies emerged and others failed, money was made and life savings were lost.
