In this study, we evaluated whether bacteria can utilize the prebiotic present in soybean meal and determine the prebiotic index and activity score of the soybean meal by the newly isolated probiotic, Bacillus velezensis BS. The effect of soybean meal-containing medium on the growth, digestive enzyme secretion, and pathogenic resistance of the B. velezensis BS were also examined.

The present study aimed to investigate the effect of chickpea as a prebiotic, antioxidant and thickener agent on the probiotic viability and physicochemical properties of stirred bio-yoghurt. Stirred bio-yoghurts were made using probiotic cultures (Bifidobacterium bifidum and a mixture of Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis and Lactobacillus acidophilus) with chickpea flour at different concentrations (1, 2 and 3%).

Present investigation was undertaken to explore the potential of skim milk containing prebiotics maize and oat on probiotics Lactobacilli to enhance their survival and activity. The experiment was laid out in completely randomized design with twenty one treatments and three replication. The Lactobacilli casei was isolated from curd and considered to be LAB based on their gram-positive and catalase-negative morphology. Maize flour and oat bran prebiotics were added into the culture of Lactobacilli, the prebiotics gets fermented due to Lactobacilli.

The present study was conducted on thirty cattle suffering from small bowel intussusception presented at the institutional veterinary hospital. The animals were divided into three equal groups depending upon the duration of intussusception since the first signs of colic appear viz. Group I (n=10) (since 48 hours), Group II (n=10) (>48 hours to 120 hours and Group III (n=10) (120 hours to 192 hours). The data from these animals was compared with the values obtained from the 6 healthy animals (control group) from the organised farm.
