Production of biodiesel from vegetable oils

Xem 1-9 trên 9 kết quả Production of biodiesel from vegetable oils
  • The factors that affect transesterification such as temperature, time and molar ratio have been included. The study reveals that waste beef fat would be a suitable replacement of vegetable oils due to low cost, its role in protecting the environment, and beef tallow esters are close to ASTM D 6751 biodiesel standards. Research work needs to be carried out on heterogeneous catalysts and low-cost lipase catalysts to improve productivity.

  • A lipid producing isolate (LPI 65) was identified by a molecular genetics technique as Pichia occidentalis MH879824.1 was investigated for its ability to produce biodiesel. The isolate was screened for its ability to accumulate lipids within the cells by culturing on nitrogen-limited medium (NLM) and using Sudan black B staining technique. Estimation of lipid content % was performed. The effect of different glucose concentrations in NLM on dry biomass and lipid weight were conducted and results showed that the best concentration of glucose was 70 g/L.

  • It is of great knowledge nowadays that the use of fossil fuels is responsible for the emission of gases that intensify the greenhouse effect, which threatens the survival of the humankind. The gravity of this fact could be mitigated through the indirect use of solar energy for fuels derived from vegetable that can be planted and cultivated by the world of renewable and non -polisher. Microalgae play an important role in this regard, as they have promising characteristics as potential raw material for the production of biofuels, able to absorb large amounts of CO2 .

  • Biodiesel production is worthy of continued study and optimization of production procedures because of its environmentally beneficial attributes and its renewable nature. Non-edible vegetable oils such as Jatropha oil, produced by seed-bearing shrubs, can provide an alternative and do not have competing food uses. However, these oils are characterized by their high free fatty acid contents. Using the conventional transesterification technique for the production of biodiesel is well established.
