This dissertation and project analyse the ongoing crisis in news journalism and evidencebased inquiries. Through practice-led research, the completed prototype Labyrinths & Leaks examines methods for overlapping evidence through the interactive documentary (i-doc) form. This research examines what happens when we break apart narrative sequencing. Rather than a gradual narrowing of the linear storyline, there is a network of openings and opportunities afforded through the i-doc form.

This project examines how the moving image can be used as a vehicle of memory, to express what is lost, what is gained and what changes occur in relation to personal family migratory history—a messy and ambiguous process. This practice-led research project investigates video work, using filmed materials and objects, to focus attention on the non-linear aspect of time as it is subjected to individual and collective memories. The outcomes highlight the sometimes disconnecting and unpredictable experiences of migration, storytelling, and memory.

Urban transportation infrastructure development projects usually act as a lever for real estate values. This research aims to assess the effects of some projects on urban land prices in three wards of Cau Giay District, namely Quan Hoa, Dich Vong, and Dich Vong Hau wards. With 161 samples surveyed, we established a multivariate linear regression model initially having 11 variables.

A natural and simple question asked is: Does the Cremona group Cr(n) admit a structure that is of an algebraic group of infinite dimension. This is still an open question because we don’t know if the set Cr≤d(n) of birational maps of degree ≤ d admits a structure of the algebraic variety.

Wind power plants can be realized with different generator types using different control principles. The choice of the generator regardless of control method, potentially destabilizes the grid, and can even lead to grid collapse. For independent grid (e.g. on islands) this risk is especially great. The report aimed at giving the reader a general overview of the control methods, and the developers a better understanding of each generator type to get the right choice for their wind power project.

HUMAN CAPITAL GAINS: HOW THE INVESTMENT AND ALLOCATION OF HUMAN CAPITAL AFFECTS THE PERFORMANCE OF HIGH TECHNOLOGY INITIAL PUBLIC OFFERING FIRMS A second reason is that schools in more stratified markets are likely to be more internally homogenous; as the sampling variance of the school average depends linearly on the within-school variance of individual characteristics, more internally homogenous schools imply more reliable schoollevel averages.

Let k be a local field, and Γ ≤ GLn (k) a linear group over k. We prove that Γ contains either a relatively open solvable subgroup or a relatively dense free subgroup. This result has applications in dynamics, Riemannian foliations and profinite groups. Contents 1. Introduction 2. A generalization of a lemma of Tits 3. Contracting projective transformations 4. Irreducible representations of non-Zariski connected algebraic groups 5. Proof of Theorem 1.3 in the finitely generated case 6. Dense free subgroups with infinitely many generators 7.

We show that every smooth toric variety (and many other algebraic spaces as well) can be realized as a moduli space for smooth, projective, polarized varieties. Some of these are not quasi-projective. This contradicts a recent paper (Quasi-projectivity of moduli spaces of polarized varieties, Ann. of Math. 159 (2004) 597–639.). A polarized variety is a pair (X, H) consisting of a smooth projective variety X and a linear equivalence class of ample divisors H on X. For simplicity, we look at the case when X is smooth, numerical and linear equivalence coincide for divisors on X, H is very...

The aim of this paper is to show that the preservation of irreducibility of sections between a variety and hypersurface by specializations and almost all sections between a linear subspace of dimension h = n − d of Pn and a nondegenerate variety k of dimension d 0 consists of s points in uniform position. Introduction The lemma of Haaris [2] about a set in the uniform position has attracted much attention in algebraic geometry. That is a set of points of a projective space such that any two subsets of them with the same cardinality have the same...

The purpose of this section is to get a geometric understanding of linear estimation . First. we outline how projections are computed in linear algebra for finite dimensional vectors . Functional analysis generalizes this procedure to some infinite-dimensional spaces (so-called Hilbert spaces). and finally. we point out that linear estimation is a special case of an infinite-dimensional space

From the system we call the ‘normal equation system’ we can solve K normal equations for K unknown beta coefficients. The straight-forward representation of the solution is expressed in the matrix algebra. However, since the main purpose is the application and EViews. Other data analysis software is available, so we can easily find regression coefficients without remembering all the algebraic expressions.
