The lasing thresholds of microsphere biolasers fabricated at 25 °C and 60 °C are similar. Furthermore, lasing operation under continuous pumping and lasing stability against storing time are also investigated. A typical 42 µm microsphere can still lase upon 2×104 excitation pulses. Lasers can work well after being stored for 12 weeks under ambient conditions.

Cystic fbrosis (CF) is a life-threatening multiorgan genetic disease, particularly affecting the lungs, where recurrent infections are the main cause of reduced life expectancy. In CF, mutations in the gene encoding the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) protein impair transepithelial electrolyte and water transport, resulting in airway dehydration, and a thickening of the mucus associated with abnormal viscoelastic properties.

Chickpea is an important food legume crop with high protein levels that is widely grown in rainfed areas prone to drought stress. Using an integrated approach, we describe the relative changes in some physiological parameters and the proteome of a drought-tolerant (MCC537, T) and drought-sensitive (MCC806, S) chickpea genotype.

Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) is the second most widely grown pulse and drought (limiting water) is one of the major constraints leading to about 40–50% yield losses annually. Dehydration responsive element binding proteins (DREBs) are important plant transcription factors that regulate the expression of many stressinducible genes and play a critical role in improving the abiotic stress tolerance.

Drought tolerance is accompanied by number of traits and they are regulated by the many genes, hence targeting single gene against moisture stress will not be effective in crop improvement. Use of transcription factors (TFs) to target corresponding multigene is current trend. As per the many research findings, dehydration responsive element binding proteins (DREB) are reported as an important TFs that known to induces number of abiotic stress-related genes and impart the stress tolerance in plants.

Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. radicis-lycopersici (FORL) is one of the most destructive necrotrophic pathogens affecting tomato crops, causing considerable field and greenhouse yield losses. Despite such major economic impact, little is known about the molecular mechanisms regulating Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. radicis-lycopersici resistance in tomato.

Environmental factors that plants face during their life cycle are dynamic in nature. Plants require adequate amount of water for their growth and development. At the event of moisture deficit in the soil, the water potential in the cells drastically reduced. Under salt stress, plants succumb to salt injuries in addition to dehydration. Plants try to combat such situation by adopting a variety of mechanisms, including closure of stomata that limits water loss and exclusion of Na+ to reduce salt injury.

The present study was carried out to investigate the effect of different drying methods on physicochemical composition of dehydrated apricot fruits. The fresh apricots were dehydrated in open sun and in local solar drier developed by Krishi Vigyan Kendra Leh. The chemical composition showed that the fresh apricots contained moisture 81.7%, ash 0.69%, crude Protein 0.9%, crude fat 0.05%and crude fiber 1.07%. The solar drier and using open sun drying substantially decreased moisture content to 12.61% and 14.7% respectively. Proportions of other components were increased, which include ash (3.

The study was undertaken to compare the effect of tray and solar drying on the quality attributes of pineapple powder and its storability in different packaging materials. For the study, pineapple slices were first subjected to osmotic dehydration process using sugar syrup of 60 oBrix for 12 hours at room temperature. Powder was prepared after solar (using natural solar cabinet dryer) and tray drying (at 50, 60, 70 and 80 oC) of pineapple slices.

Dehydration-responsive element-binding (DREB) proteins play a critical role in the plant’s droughttolerance mechanism despite their presence in minor amounts in the cell. In this study, a maize-derived transcription factor protein, ZmDREB2.7, was overexpressed in the Escherichia coli strain Rosetta 1. The interested gene conjugating with the thioredoxin gene (TrxA) and his6 tag in the pET-32a vector encoded a 55.7 kDa fusion protein. The optimum condition for inducing the thioredoxin-his6 -ZmDREB2.7 expression was five hours of induction with 0.05 mM IPTG at 300 C. The Tris-HCl 20 mM pH 8.

DRE (dehydration responsive element)/CRT (C-repeat) is a cis-acting element that involves in gene expression responsive to abiotic stress in higher plants. To date, all well known DREBP transcription factors in Arabidopsis, rice, maize and other plants regulate gene expression in response to drought, high-salt and cold stresses by binding specifically to DRE/CRT.
