The presence of groundwater can lead to troublesome conditions when construction operations are to take place below the original groundwater level. There are several techniques or methods available for designing of groundwater lowering systems for a construction project. The selection of a technique or techniques appropriate to a particular project at a particular site or country will depend on many factors.

One of the most common causes of high mortality in Vietnam, as well as in the world, is related to cardiovascular disease. Therefore, the development of artificial blood vessels to replace damaged blood vessels in cardiovascular patients has become increasingly necessary. Realizing a growing need for these techniques, our team manufactured a specialized electrospinner machine to produce artificial blood vessel models.

Least squares estimation of unknown parameters from measurement data is a well-established standard method in chromatography modeling but can suffer from critical disadvantages. The description of realworld systems is generally prone to unaccounted mechanisms, such as dispersion in external holdup volumes, and systematic measurement errors, such as caused by pump delays.

Antibiotic-associated diarrhea (AAD) is a common problem among elderly inpatients because many elderly patients are admitted for pneumonia or other conditions that necessitate antibiotic treatment. In the super aging population, more patients are suffering from pneumonia than before, but the incidence or risk factors for AAD among many elderly patients have not been well scrutinized.

The lasing thresholds of microsphere biolasers fabricated at 25 °C and 60 °C are similar. Furthermore, lasing operation under continuous pumping and lasing stability against storing time are also investigated. A typical 42 µm microsphere can still lase upon 2×104 excitation pulses. Lasers can work well after being stored for 12 weeks under ambient conditions.

This paper introduces the resistance network model to calculate the hydrostatic pressure distribution of the oil lubrication film. The effect of geometry and working parameters on the pressure distribution is then analyzed. Among these parameters, the calculation results point out that the radial and axial clearance, as well as the eccentricity of the ring gear, have a significant effect on the hydrostatic pressure distribution.

TetR-family transcriptional regulators (TFTRs) are DNA binding factors that regulate gene expression in bacteria. Well-studied TFTRs, such as AcrR, which regulates efflux pump expression, are usually encoded alongside target operons. Recently, it has emerged that there are many TFTRs which act as global multi-target regulators.

Plants are well known as vectors for transmission of human enteric pathogens and exaggerate the outbreak events. Salmonella enterica, rod shaped, facultative anaerobic bacteria interferes with the microbial safety of raw vegetables. This study explored three sources: Village fields, Supermarkets and Street Vendors to ensure the microbial risk among seven raw vegetables (N=725). Water samples of the hand pumps sourced from village fields showed total coliforms >10ml-1 (75.6-98.5%) and faecal coliforms >10ml-1 (59.6-91.2%).

This paper study the coherent Stokes generation in a transient stimulated Raman scattering regime by Hydrogen gas-filled hollow-core photonic crystal fibres configuration. The temporal and spatial evolution of the pump and Stokes field envelopes as well as the coherence and population inversion are numerically calculated. The Stokes generation efficiency and the influence of pump pulse width and gas pressure on the energy exchange along fibre are investigated.

Pumping system powered by kinetic energy of water from nearby nallah can be a cheap, efficient and precise way of delivering water to nearby farm pond/open well. The pumping system is simple to develop, install, operate and very much cater to the need of rural remote area. It may be suitable for un-electrified as well as unreliable electric supply area provided suitable site conditions are available. The major components of spiral tube water wheel pumping system include rim, inlet valve, housing, flexible pipe, bearing, T-joint etc.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is an increasingly serious threat to global public health. The increase in antibiotic consumption is well evident which accelerates the AMR. The continuous dissemination of ‘multidrug-resistant’ (MDR) bacteria drastically reduces the efficacy of antibiotics and consequently increases the frequency of therapeutic failure. In MDR bacteria the over-expression of efflux pumps that expels antibiotics which contribute to the increased resistance by decreasing the intracellular concentration of antibiotics.
