The obtained results with the neutron flux correction were found to be in good agreement with the certified values. In conclusion, the proposed technique can be applied for activation analyses without sandwiching flux monitors between samples during irradiations.

This paper gives an outline of the radioisotope production programme using the DNRR. The production laboratory and facilities including the nuclear reactor with its irradiation positions and characteristics, hot cells, production lines and equipment for the production of Kits for labelling with 99mTc and for quality control, as well as the production rate are mentioned. The methods used for production of 131I, 99mTc, 51Cr, 32P, etc. and the procedures for preparation of radiopharmaceuticals are described briefly.

The paper presents the calculation results in re-design of neutron trap of the Dalat Nuclear Research Reactor (DNRR) for I-131 radioisotope production using TeO2 target. The new design permits for loading more TeO2 capsules from 9 to 12, 15 and 18 in the neutron trap.

A study of the degradation of endosulfan (6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 10-hexachloro – 1, 5, 5a, 6, 9, 9a – hexahydro – 6, 9- methano – 2, 4, 3 – benzodioxanthiepin 3 – oxide) in Malaysian sandy loam and clay soils was carried out using a radioisotopic technique under laboratory conditions. It was demonstrated that endosulfan possessed long half-lives of 433, 495 and 462 days in aerobic sandy loam, aerobic clay and anaerobic clay soils respectively. Endosulfan degrades faster in non-sterile than in sterile soils. This study indicates that microorganisms are involved in the degradation of endosulfan.

Mechanic solicitations induced by neutron and photon interactions have to be featured for components lifespan determination. TechnicAtome is in charge of both the design and building on behalf of CEA of the 100 MW Jules Horowitz Reactor (JHR). This modular Material Testing Reactor is under construction in southern France, with radioisotope production and material testing capabilities.

This paper presents a feasibility study for producing the medical isotope 99mTc using the hazardous and currently wasted radioisotope 99Tc. This can be achieved with the nuclear resonance fluorescence (NRF) phenomenon, which has recently been made applicable due to high-intensity laser Compton scattering (LCS) photons. In this work, 21 NRF energy states of 99Tc have been identified as potential contributors to the photo-production of 99mTc and their NRF cross-sections are evaluated by using the single particle estimate model and the ENSDF data library.

The residents around the RIPF assume that 131I detected in environmental samples is produced from RIPF. To ensure the safety of the residents, the radioactive concentration of 131I near the RIPF was investigated by monitoring environmental samples along the Gap River. The selected geographical places are near the nuclear installation, another possible location for 131I detection, and downstream of the Gap River.

Mutant analysis by polymerase chain reaction and restriction enzyme cleavage (MAPREC) has been developed by Chumakov et al. for poliovirus to determine quantitatively the presence of genomic changes in particular nucleotide sequences that lead to virulence phenotypes of oral poliomyelitis vaccine (OPV or live attenuated vaccine) [1]. Afterwards, this RI (radioisotope) MAPREC was developed to non RI – MAPREC by Japan Poliomyelitis Research Institute in 1998 to compensate for some disadvantages of RI-MAPREC [2].

Industrialization has become an important factor to the development of a country’s economy, through the establishment of plants and factories. However, the waste or by-products discharged from them are severely disastrous to the environment consists various kind of contaminant which contaminate the surface water, ground water and soil. There are a number of reasons the waste are not safely treated. One of the reasons is mainly due to the lacking of highly efficient and economic treatment technology.
