  • A probabilistic model is proposed to predict the risk effects on time and cost of public building projects. The research goal is to utilize a real history data in estimating project cost and duration. The model results can be used to adjust floats and budgets of the planning schedule before project commencement. Statistical regression models and sample tests are developed using real data of 113 public projects. The model outputs can be used by project managers in the planning phase to validate the schedule critical path time and project budget.

  • Oliguria is associated with a decreased kidney- and organ perfusion, leading to organ damage and increased mortality. While the effects of correcting oliguria on renal outcome have been investigated frequently, whether urine output is a modifiable risk factor for mortality or simply an epiphenomenon remains unclear.

  • The current study examined the determinants of electricity consumption and also intends to forecast the electricity consumption in Pakistan. The study has used time series data analysis, applied Johansen Cointegration Test, error correction mechanisms and regression for examining determinants and autoregressive integrated moving average model is used for forecasting. The study has used times series secondary annual data on different variables for the period ranging from 1970 to 2018.

  • This research focus on to presents of the MQL parameters optimization approach in which the multi-response outputs based on Taguchi's L9 orthogonal array method is used. During the turning AISI-1045 steel, the cutting temperature, the maximum of tool wear, and the surface roughness were measured. The MQL parameters which are ratio of soluble lubricant and water, pressure of spray head, flow volume of emulsion was simultaneously optimized by taking the multi-response outputs using Taguchi based grey relational analysis (GRA) into consideration.

  • To this aim, ten physics-based models have been investigated to determine the cell temperature, and those models have been validated using measured PV cell temperatures by computing the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE). Then, the model with the lowest RMSE has been adopted in training a data-driven prediction model. The proposed prediction model is to use an ANN compared to the well-known benchmark model from the literature, i.e., Multiple Linear Regression (MLR).

  • India is a predominantly agriculture based economy country. Annual population growth rate of the country is nearly 1.8 % and if per capita consumption of rice is expected to be 400 gm of rice per day then the demand for rice in 2025 will be 130 m. tones. For obtaining the high yield with seed planting equipment or planter, it is very essential to drop the paddy seeds in rows maintaining accurate seed rate and seed spacing with minimum damage to seeds during metering.

  • This study aimed to examines the nexus of population, gross domestic product (GDP) growth, electricity generation, electricity consumption, and carbon emissions output using the time series data. This study employed the time series analysis, Pearson correlation, and regressions analysis to identify the pattern, relationship among variables and determine the significant predictors contributing carbon emissions in Malaysia. The results shown a growing trend in GDP, population, electricity generation, consumption, and emissions output in Malaysia.

  • This paper applies a four-stage data envelopment analysis (DEA) approach proposed by Fried et al. (1999) to measure the operational environment-adjusted efficiency of sixty mutual funds in Taiwan from 2006 to 2010. We adopt the approach for adjusting negative output as suggested by Lovell and Pastor (1995). In addition, the truncated regression model is used to estimate effects of environmental variables on input slacks in the second stage. The efficiency of funds initially lightly declined, rapidly rose during the financial crisis of 2008, and then gradually fell again.

  • This paper develops a new network data envelopment analysis (DEA) model that simultaneously integrates the non-convex metafrontier and undesirable outputs and which is super efficient at performing dynamic network slacks-based measures. The model is employed to discuss the efficiency of 36 commercial banks in China during the years 2010–2014. The efficiency of these banks shows significant heterogeneity and the efficiency of most foreign banks has much room for improvement.

  • Using non-performing loans as a bad output, this study will measure and analyse the productivity of Vietnam’s banks during the period from 2007−2014. The Malmquist-Luenberger index is utilised to measure the productivity of Vietnamese banking system. The results show an outperformance of publicly owned banks over their private counterparts and a deterioration of bank productivity due to technical regress.

  • This paper aims to investigate the technical and allocative efficiency scores of 23 commercial banks operating in Turkey between 2003 and 2012 by using data envelopment analysis (DEA). In the CCR model analysis, the number of technically inefficient banks rises from three to six and the number of allocatively inefficient banks falls from six to five within the given period. On the other hand the number of technically efficient banks falls from 22 to 19 whereas the number of allocatively efficient banks rises from 10 to 16 in the study period according to BCC model analysis.

  • Highly tensile manganese steel is in great demand owing to its high tensile strength under shock loads. All workpieces are produced through casting, because it is highly difficult to machine. The probabilistic aspects of its casting, its variable composition, and the different casting techniques must all be considered for the optimisation of its mechanical properties. A hybrid strategy is therefore proposed which combines decision trees and artificial neural networks (ANNs) for accurate and reliable prediction models for ore crushing plate lifetimes.

  • accountants probably have always been concerned with measuring and reporting the relationship between cost and output. The preeminence of fi nancial accounting in this century resulted in directing much of our attention toward attaching costs to inventories. However, the recent emphasis on decision making is causing us to consider ways of measuring the variability of cost with output and other decisions variables. In this essay, the application, use, and limitations of multiple regression analysis, a valuable tool for measuring costs, are discussed....

  • This short text is the output of a desire to produce a helpful additional source for my students and from that, perhaps be of use to other similar students and managers of this subject area. After several years of working with classes on Management Decision Making, the need for a short and focused integrative text was clear to me. There are many excellent texts on both the qualitative and quantitative aspects of decision making, but few which address both.
