This research investigates a means of negating such shortcomings and reaping the benefits of both LPBF additive manufacturing and traditional manufacturing methods by joining such parts together using laser welding in the autogenous mode (no fillers required). Based on the literature review conducted in this field and the gaps identified, a two-stage methodology was utilised, as per following.

The preferred method for disposal of used nuclear fuel is underground emplacement in a Deep Geological Repository (DGR). Many countries have light water reactor fuels which require large Used Fuel Container or Canister (UFC) designs weighing up to 25 ton for containment.

In the event of a complete Station Blackout (SBO) of a CANDU reactor, the current safety practice is to initiate depressurization early in the transient once a lack of power has been declared. This requires operator actions to manually open the main steam safety valves (MSSVs) on the secondary side initiating a crash-cool procedure.

The objective of this article is to study the activities and special characteristics of graphite and Fluental neutron moderator material in FiR1 TRIGA Mark II type research reactor in Finland. Quantifying the nuclide vector and total activities of decommissioning waste is a legal requirement and provides input to many other aspect of decommissioning project.

In this study, an optimization of the canister loading for used nuclear fuels is performed, solely based on their decay heat values. By taking into account the individual irradiation history for each fuel assembly, as well as with a number of assumptions on the number of used fuels to be disposed, this study indicates that a canister filling fraction of 94% is achievable for both PWR and BWR fuel, thus lowering the number of required canisters compared to a previous study.

Westinghouse type plants in the United States (US) and Europe have a manual trip procedure of the reactor coolant pumps (RCP) in the case of a small break Loss of Coolant Accident (LOCA) with the high pressure injection (HPI) system functioned. This is in response to the Three Mile Island (TMI) accident in order to maintain as much the forced core cooling as possible.

The analyses of hypothetical accident scenario in various containment designs include the evaluation of the effectiveness of Passive Autocatalytic Recombiners (PARs), which are installed to mitigate the hydrogen risk, or are considered by utilities for retro-fitting the plants to implement revised regulatory requirements motivated by the Fukushima accident.

Leak-before-break assessments of piping in nuclear power plants require an accurate prediction of leakage rates through thin slits and the understanding of uncertainties. Two test rigs at the University of Stuttgart are dedicated to the measurement of flow rates in the order of the typical leak monitoring specification of 1 gal/min.

The paper aims to detail the procedure of selecting and scaling recorded seismic accelerations according to requirements specified by TCVN-9386:2012. The target response spectrum and the fundamental vibration period of the considered structure are critical factors for the selecting and scaling process.

This study proposes an alternative approach based on the deep learning paradigm working in a complementary way with conventional methods such as the finite element method for quickly forecasting the responses of structures under random wind loads with reasonable accuracy. The approach works in a sequenceto-sequence fashion, providing a good trade-off between the prediction performance and required computation resources.
