Respiratory infections in Haryana

PCR has some advantage over cultural detection as it can detect the pathogens in dead organism also and also rapid, inexpensive and sensitive method. Therefore, the present study was carried out to detect the Mycoplasma infection in poultry affected with respiratory infection by PCR.

Avian mycoplasmosis is one of the most prevalent problem of poultry industry leading to heavy economic losses. Out of the various identified species of Mycoplasma, Mycoplasma gallisepticum is the principle causative agent of Chronic Respiratory disease (CRD). A variety of factors are responsible for the heavy death rates, including bird handling, age of flock, ventilation facilties, location of the farm, vaccination status of the birds, transportation, various environmental factors.
