This research explores the development of a novel slow-release fertilizer coating composed of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), tapioca starch, and modified rice husk char. The study focuses on the optimal production of rice husk char at 600°C, which facilitates enhanced silica and reduced carbon contents, improving its functional properties in the coating matrix.

Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is the staple food and being the most important ingredient of the food basket for most nations in Asia. The declining productivity of rice and its availability of per capita is therefore a policy concern. Nevertheless, the production of rice in Malaysia is primarily implemented by adopting the conventional technique. This technique has increased the production cost of rice and became a constraint to achieving the production potential for the farmer.

The present paper provides a case study of rice farmers in the Muda granary area, which covers the states of Kedah and Perlis, using primary data to identify the factors on the adoption of PEP among farmers. The research findings indicate that the key factors determining the farmers’ adoption of the PEP are age, secondary jobs, effective communication with the extension agency, increased rice yield, lower operating cost, lower working time in the fields, and support services, such as assistance, incentives, and facilities from the government.

The study identifies that some local animals and crops have advantages in high-tech application such as rice, coffee pepper, fruit trees, pig, cow, poultry, and aquaculture. To develop hi-tech agriculture in Quang Tri province, there should be synchronized solutions, in which important solutions are planning high-tech agricultural production zones - areas and identifying suitable technologies for each specific plant and particular zone.

The aim of this study was to build a price model for premium and medium rice in South Sumatra Province, being a major centre for production in Indonesia. This was estimated using the ARCH/GARCH model, based on the weekly data obtained between March 2016 and July 2019. The results showed the occurrence of price volatility for premium and medium variety, despite the polity implementation by government.

A policy of high rice prices can increase paddy farm incomes but also cause a rise in rice expenditures for farm households. Such a policy is needed to stimulate production but can harm rice consumers, especially poor families. We surveyed 284 paddy farmers in Gantar Sub-District, Indramayu Regency, Indonesia to analyze the impact of increasing rice prices on farmers’ net incomes, including poor paddy farmers. We found that a price increase benefits farmer if the price transmission elasticity is more than 0.2 for non-poor paddy farmers or 0.6 for poor paddy farmers.

The results of resreach showed that rice areas were not distributed relatively uniform in all districts and the rice yield had average level when compared with the other rice cultivation areas. Rice yields in Thai Nguyen province sharply increased from 4.87 tons/ha (2010) to 5.49 tons/ha (2020) with the slightly decreasing the rice areas, it is proved that the farmer was not concerned to increase the planting areas while they focused on rising the yield potential and quality.

Rice is one of the staple food in Bangladesh. The most important milling by-product of rice is ‘rice bran' which is an excellent source of edible oil. Due to the poor storage facility in the rice milling industry, the quality of rice bran gets deteriorates rapidly. This study examines the deterioration level of rice bran during the storage period in average room temperature (31°C).

Salinity is one of the most devastating abiotic stresses limiting crop production. Considering this issue, a pot experiment was conducted at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka, Bangladesh during the boro season (2017-2018) using two rice (Oryza sativa L.) varieties, namely BRRI dhan28 (salt sensitive) and BRRI dhan47 (salt tolerant), to assess the effects of varied salinity levels on the growth and the performance of the rice varieties under salt stress conditions.
