A 100-year-old female patient was admitted for a pericardial effusion with unknown etiology. Pericardiocentesis was performed and the pigtail drainage catheter was noted to be in the right ventricle and not pericardial space.

An early diastolic flow from the left ventricular apex to the base can be shown in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). This tiny flow or a diastolic paradoxic jet flow is important to detect on echocardiography because of its association with cardiovascular adverse events.

Ebstein’s anomaly is a rare form of cyanotic congenital heart disease (CHD) that involves malformation and dysfunction of the tricuspid valve and right ventricle (RV). The severity of the defect impacts clinical presentation, survival, and treatment options.

Carcinoid heart disease is an unusual cause of right heart failure. We present the case of a 53-year-old man with a history of metastatic carcinoid tumors originating from the appendix, status postchemotherapy, and liver embolizations. The patient presented with a right-sided valvular disease with severe pulmonic valve regurgitation, right ventricle dilation and pulmonary hypertension. He had carcinoid syndrome well controlled with long-acting lanreotide.

This study was conducted to describe the anatomical morphologies of the coronary arteries in Taussig-Bing heart anomaly. Methods: From January 2010 to December 2018, 72 consecutive patients underwent total correction for the Taussig Bing heart anomaly at Vietnam National Children's Hospital. The coronary artery morphology of this patient’s group was visually evaluated during arterial switch operations.

Right ventricle (RV) dysfunction and hypotension can be induced by high levels of positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP). We sought to determine in an animal model if a novel ultrasound analysis technique: speckle tracking echocardiography (STE), could determine deterioration in RV function induced by PEEP and to compare this to a conventional method of RV analysis: fractional area change (FAC).

Congenital heart diseases are occasionally encountered in the bovine species. Ventricular septal defects (VSD) and atrial septal defects (ASD) are reported to be the most common; However, a vast collection have been reported.

General anesthesia induction with the initiation of positive pressure ventilation creates a vulnerable phase for patients. The impact of positive intrathoracic pressure on cardiac performance has been studied but remains controversial. 3D echocardiography is a valid and MRI-validated bed-side tool to evaluate the right ventricle (RV).

Congenital heart disease (CHD) is the leading non-infectious cause of death in infants. Monozygotic (MZ) twins share nearly all of their genetic variants before and after birth. Nevertheless, MZ twins are sometimes discordant for common complex diseases. The goal of this study is to identify genomic and epigenomic differences between a pair of twins discordant for a form of congenital heart disease, double outlet right ventricle (DORV).

Aldosterone is a mineralocorticoid hormone critically involved in arterial blood pressure regulation. Although pharmacological aldosterone antagonism reduces mortality and morbidity among patients with severe left-sided heart failure, the contribution of aldosterone to the pathobiology of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and right ventricular (RV) heart failure is not fully understood.

Research objectives: The enlargement of right ventricle results in dilation of tricuspid valve annulus with the presence of the cleft between the anterior leaflet and septal leaflet of the tricuspid valve; according to several authors, it is also called the cleft of septal tricuspid leaflet. Depending on the magnitude, the cleft may cause tricuspid valve regurgitation more or less.

Defects in the atrial septum are one the most common types of congenital heart defects (CHDs) in children and such a defect is the most common CHD in adults. Atrial septal defects (ASDs) cause left to right shunt because the left atrial pressure is higher than that in the right atrium. This causes volume overloading of the right ventricle.
