Truck crashes related to brake failure have been an increasing issue for traffic safety in Vietnam recently. Although previous studies have pointed out several variables directly related to this type of crash, there has been no research to further examine influencing factors resulting from other actors representing inside a road transport system and the interactions among them.

Road traffic injuries (RTIs), D in nature, are the leading cause of unintentional injury worldwide, incurring significant individual and societal burden. Investigation of a large representative cohort is needed to validate early identifiable predictors of long-term work incapacity post-RTI.

Health literacy (HL) is rarely addressed in rehabilitation research and practice but can play a substantial role in the recovery process after an injury. We aimed to identify factors associated with low HL and its relationship with 6-month health outcomes in individuals recovering from a non-catastrophic road traffic injury.

This paper applied an ordered probit model to investigate factors associated with RLR using questionnaire data collected in Hanoi. Generally, this paper found that males and motorcyclists have a higher likelihood of RLR than females and car drivers. In addition, the younger and lower-income road users and the ones who are businessmen and who have a commuting trip in off-peak hours are more likely to run the red light.

People over 64 years have a high fatality rate when they are involved in traffic accidents. Besides, older victims of road crashes are expected to rise in the future due to population aging. The purpose of the study was to document their perception on the role of the family doctor, the main facilitating factors, and the perceived barriers to the temporary or permanent restriction of their driving.

Whiplash Associated Disorders (WAD) are common and costly, and are usually managed initially by general practitioners (GPs). How GPs manage WAD is largely unstudied, though there are clinical guidelines. Our aim was to ascertain the rate of management (percentage of encounters) of WAD among patients attending Australian general practice, and to review management of these problems, including imaging, medications and other treatments.

At the start of the 1960s, the studios were providing lucrative prime-time television pro- gramming, but theatrical moviemaking was not a great business to be in. Attendance was falling sharply. Road show pictures like The Sound of Mu- sic (1965), playing a single screen for months on end, were for a while bright spots on the ledger, but the cycle of epic road show productions, already over- stretched with the failure of Cleopatra (1963) and Mutiny on the Bounty (1965), crashed at the end of the decade.

The agency has also proposed establishing a new safety standard (FMVSS No. 126) to require electronic stability control (ESC) on all light duty passenger vehicles beginning in MY 2009. 8 ESC can prevent a large percentage of loss-of-control crashes which expose vehicles to the off- road tripping mechanisms that cause most rollovers. By reducing exposure to run-off-the-road crashes, an ESC requirement would result in a large reduction in rollover fatalities.

While driving on a busy city street one night a few years ago, I flinched as something from out of the sky crashed down on my windshield, striking it with a tremendous thud. The thing startled me and I heard the glass give under the object’s force—but it didn’t crack. I stopped, got out, and looked around. On the side of the road I spotted the menace—a section of tailpipe that apparently had been struck and thrown up into the air by a passing vehicle. The rusty metal object landed hard, leaving a few deep scratches on my windshield—the safety glass held up under the...

At every moment of every day there is a crash event, affecting everything: transportation, economics, politics, computing, bodies, brains, cups and plates, birds, agriculture, chemistry, health, banking, manufacturing and so on, without end. Despite being insured, insulated by method, knowledge, prediction, risk analysis and technology against accidents, we are nevertheless permanently avoiding them. Every crash is followed by calls for legislation: ‘it must never happen again’ – and yet it always does.
