In this book you will find the basics of probability theory and statistics. In addition, there are several topics that go somewhat beyond the basics but that ought to be present in an introductory course: simulation, the Poisson process, the law of large numbers, and the central limit theorem. Computers have brought many changes in statistics. In particular, the bootstrap has earned its place. It provides the possibility to derive confidence intervals and perform tests of hypotheses where traditional (normal approximation or large sample) methods are inappropriate.

This paper suggests the balanced approach of the new two-sided group chain sampling plan (NTSGCh) which operates with four acceptance criteria. The lifetime distribution of Log-logistic is used in this study, and the method of time truncated life test simulation is conducted. The findings proved that the NTSGCh performed better than the NTSCoGCh. Therefore, the NTSGCh is a worthy option for implementation in lot inspection in the manufacturing industry.

The objective is to derive a health insurance risk model and determine the amount of net premium for each insured age group in health insurance. The sample of this study is the participant of health insurance in the Bandung area, Indonesia, especially for the insured who live in flood-prone areas.

The established modified group chain acceptance sampling plans (MGChSP) only considered the consumer’s risk when developing the plans and turned down the producer’s risk, which means the established MGChSP satisfied the consumer but not the producer. Based on the above problem, this article proposes the minimum angle method for the MGChSP as the method considers both risks (consumer’s and producer’s) simultaneously. In order to develop the proposed MGChSP, the generalized exponential distribution is chosen as its lifetime distribution, and the time truncated simulation is done.

This paper presents the results of determining the coefficient of friction when cold plastic deformation by the method of cold ring upsetting with different lubricants. The ring upsetting process is performed with varying degrees of deformation with three lubricants used: industrial oil, cooking oil, and zinc sulfate powder. Based on the deformation and dimension change of the samples after the upsetting, the coefficient of friction was determined by correlation comparison with the friction calibration curve performed by Male and Cockcroft.

The nonlinear kinematic wave model is developed from the Saint Venant system of equations, which includes a nonlinear kinematic wave program that solves the system of equations by Newton's iterative method and a linear kinematic wave program for calculations initial flow value. In this thesis, the rolling contact wear of 52100 bearing steel and Over-aged Magnesia-Partially-Stabilised Zirconia (OA-Mg-PSZ) ceramic are examined using a newly developed rolling contact wear test rig. The new wear test rig simulates the system geometry of an un-lubricated hybrid (ceramic and steel) ball bearing. The new wear test rig is versatile in that it allows low cost samples to be utilised resulting in a larger number of samples that can be tested.

In the paper, zeolite ZSM-5 has been synthesized in laboratory. Its structure is then modified by irradiating with electron beam at the different energies and fluences (F). To perform the irradiation process on the electron beam (EB) linear accelerator (UERL-10-15S2), the simultaneous energy degrading and sample containing holde was calculated and designed by MCNP simulation before irradiation.
