This paper presents a simulation method to determine the local sensitivity of geometrical parameters of the micro-beam models used in the micro-mechanical structures. The analysis allows for defining the essential parameters in designing the microstructures to reduce the designing time. The analysis results can be used to give suitable geometrical parameters for the micro-mechanical structure according to the purposed resonant frequency.

In this research, the problems were divided into three small, medium and large groups, and for each of the solving methods the evaluation criteria was calculated. The results of this comparison indicated that non-dominated optimization algorithm outperforms the exact solving method. Therefore, it was concluded that this algorithm should be used to solve the model of real data.

Ebook "Uncertainty in biology: A computational modeling approach" wants to address four main issues related to the building and validation of computational models of biomedical processes: (1) Modeling establishment under uncertainty; (2) Model selection and parameter fitting; (3) Sensitivity analysis and model adaptation; (4) Model predictions under uncertainty in each of the abovementioned areas, the book discusses a number of key-techniques by means of a general theoretical description followed by one or more practical examples.

Ebook "Full-3D seismic waveform inversion: Theory, software and practice" introduces a methodology for solving the seismic inverse problem using purely numerical solutions built on 3D wave equations and which is free of the approximations or simplifications that are common in classical seismic inversion methodologies and therefore applicable to arbitrary 3D geological media and seismic source models. Source codes provided allow readers to experiment with the calculations demonstrated and also explore their own applications.

Ebook "Analysis of kinetic reaction mechanisms" describes methods for the analysis of reaction mechanisms that are applicable in all these fields. Topics addressed include: how sensitivity and uncertainty analyses allow the calculation of the overall uncertainty of simulation results and the identification of the most important input parameters, the ways in which mechanisms can be reduced without losing important kinetic and dynamic detail, and the application of reduced models for more accurate engineering optimizations.

In this paper, we present a reduced-order modeling approach to study the Molten Salt Fast Reactor (MSFR). Our approach is nonintrusive and based on the proper orthogonal decomposition method. We include adaptivity in selecting the sampling points both in time and parameter space. Steady-state and transient analysis were both performed using the developed models.

In solving the problem, this study developed a calibration procedure of HEC-HMS model with four steps for reducing parameter’s uncertainty and improving model performance, which include (1) identifying the number of sub-basin, (2) determining the optimal combination of loss model and transform model, (3) finding out the sensitive model parameters, and (4) further calibrating model.

The effectiveness of the developed model for describing the sensitivity of the PCR behaviour to different loading parameters (e.g. reverse-loading magnitude and duration) and to represent the effect of PCR activation on the overall strain accumulation behaviour of the material is discussed.

In this study, we proposed and analyzed a mathematical model to study the dynamics of hand foot mouth disease with effects of limited public health resources. The model is analysed using stability theory of differential equations and computer simulations. Sensitivity analysis is carried out to show the effects of model parameters to disease spread and control. The results showed that there were two equilibrium points; disease-free equilibrium and endemic equilibrium point.

Stochastic modeling and simulation provide powerful predictive methods for the intrinsic understanding of fundamental mechanisms in complex biochemical networks. Typically, such mathematical models involve networks of coupled jump stochastic processes with a large number of parameters that need to be suitably calibrated against experimental data.

Over the last decade sensitivity analysis techniques have been shown to be very useful to analyse complex and high dimensional Systems Biology models. However, many of the currently available toolboxes have either used parameter sampling, been focused on a restricted set of model observables of interest, studied optimisation of a objective function, or have not dealt with multiple simultaneous model parameter changes where the changes can be permanent or temporary.

This study proposes a numerical model based on the depth-integrated non-hydrostatic shallow water equations with an improvement of wave breaking dissipation. Firstly, studies of parameter sensitivity were carried out using the proposed numerical model for simulation of wave breaking to understand the effects of the parameters of the breaking model on wave height distribution. The simulated results of wave height near the breaking point were very sensitive to the time duration parameter of wave breaking. The best value of the onset breaking parameter is around 0.

In this paper, we explored an economic production quantity model (EPQ) model for finite production rate and deteriorating items with time-dependent trapezoidal demand. The objective of the model under study is to determine the optimal production run-time as well as the number of production cycle in order to maximize the profit.

This paper extends the work of Chen and Chang (2010) and attempts to present a model for the optimal investment threshold and the real option value under price uncertainty from a different aspect of entry probability. I measure a financing policy by the debt ratio, a weight for the proportion of funding by debt relative to funding by equity. The weight is exogenously embedded in the stochastic optimization of an investment opportunity under price uncertainty. An entry probability, indicating the likelihood of an investment action optimally taken at a future time instant, is derived.

The sensitivity analysis of three Brassica spp. (cv. RH30, Laxmi and RH0749) cultivar of wheat was performed to see the possible change in the grain yield due to change in weather (Tmax, Tmin and rainfall) and non-weather parameters (CO2) using InfoCrop and WOFOST model. The potential condition was assumed with congenial weather and adequate management practices. The higher per cent of benefits was obtained at 500 ppm but further increase in CO2 (550, 600, 650 and 700 ppm) combined with one unit increase in mean ambient temperature reduced the percent change in mustard yield.
