Severe infections with highly virulent community-associated methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (CA-MRSA) are a global problem. However, the molecular events defining the evolution of CA-MRSA are still poorly understood.

Next-generation sequencing is increasingly being used to monitor current and historic events related to the emergence and spread of antimicrobial resistance. In a recent publication, researchers analyzed the rise of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in the 1960s, emphasizing that adaptations conferring antibiotic resistance might pre-date the introduction of novel antibiotic derivatives.

Prognosis evaluation of advanced breast cancer and therapeutic strategy are mostly based on clinical features of advanced disease and molecular profiling of the primary tumor. Very few studies have evaluated the impact of metastatic subtyping during the initial metastatic event in a prospective study.

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a major nosocomial pathogen subdivided into lineages termed sequence types (STs). Since the 1950s, successive waves of STs have appeared and replaced previously dominant lineages. One such event has been occurring in China since 2013, with community-associated (CA-MRSA) strains including ST59 largely replacing the previously dominant healthcare-associated (HA-MRSA) ST239.

These alternating cold-warm X sequences correspond to the Composite Reference Section (CRS) developed in Southern Europe from a X zonation of multiple caves. The paleoclimate characteristics, including the Heinrich H2 and H1 climate events, the Bølling/Allerød, and Younger Dryas warm-cold events, were elucidated for Northern Viet Nam from ~28.000 to ~10.000 yr BP.

Coral reefs harbor the extraordinary biodiversity and not only provide livelihoods for coastal communities but also play a crucial role in economic development generally. Unfortunately, they are in decline in Vietnam and around the world because mass coral bleaching events have become more common worldwide.

Fungal fruiting bodies are complex three-dimensional structures that are formed to protect and disperse the sexual spores. Their morphogenesis requires the concerted action of numerous genes; however, at the molecular level, the spatio-temporal sequence of events leading to the mature fruiting body is largely unknown.

The freshwater species on Taiwan Island have been documented to have originated from mainland China and the Japanese islands from multiple events and by multiple colonization routes. This study used the COI sequences to identify Neocaridina species in Taiwan and to examine their geographical and temporal origins.

The multifaceted control of gene expression requires tight coordination of regulatory mechanisms at transcriptional and post-transcriptional level. Here, we studied the interdependence of transcription initiation, splicing and polyadenylation events on single mRNA molecules by full-length mRNA sequencing.
