This study underscores the critical importance of integrating engineering and geological assessments at various stages of dam construction. Re-evaluating and addressing evolving foundation conditions, particularly during construction, is essential for applying effective treatments to prevent dam failure during operation.

This paper presents a numerical modeling of RC shear walls using SSI3D finite element program. The objective of this research is to develop the full-scale model lab test of reinforced concrete (RC) shear wall. The wall is subjected to axially and laterally monotonic loading up to failure.

The main parameters of this device are calculated from the ratio of shear stress and normal stress at the fatigue of the asphalt concrete according to the Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion. Test results with asphalt specimens show that the device is stable, the acting vertical loads were smaller and more stable.

Steel corrosion affects the failure mechanism of deteriorated reinforced concrete (RC) beams. Meanwhile, there is a lack of research on the shear behavior of corroded RC beams, particularly corroded steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) beams. This paper investigates the shear behavior of corroded SFRC beams with a 1.5 shear span-to-depth ratio.

The shear behavior of steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) beams has been assessed in a large number of previous studies. However, the shear strength of corroded SFRC beams without shear reinforcement is still an unresolved topic. In this paper, the finite element models of non-corroded and corroded SFRC beams have been constructed and verified regarding load-displacement curves, crack patterns, and failure modes.

In this paper, empirical formula for the shear resistance determination of trapezoid concrete dowel in shallow concrete-steel composite floor-beam is formed. This established process is based on the failure mechanism and the ultimate loading of push-out tests.

In this study, numerical simulations are conducted to mimic the instant and delayed seismic triggering observed after this event and evaluate resultant seismic cycle perturbations at adjacent faults and near İzmir, where amplified ground motions caused heavy damage. For this purpose, Coulomb static stress changes and seismic waveforms recorded by strong-motion stations are combined as static and dynamic triggers on a rate-and-state friction dependent quasi-dynamic spring slider model with shear-normal stress coupling.

The brittleness index exhibits the strain-softening behaviour of soil and is often used to access the shear mechanism in slope failure. It has been widely investigated for diffirent materials, especially for brittle materials.

The curves were developed in a computational manner in terms of the notch stress intensity factors and based on the suitable failure concept of the maximum tangential stress (MTS) utilized frequently in the past by the author and his co-researchers for predicting mixed mode brittle fracture in extensive notched specimens.
