We investigated highly (100)-oriented PZT films directly grown on Pt films coated on RuO2/SiO2/Si substrates via sputtering method. By controlling the preferred (100) orientation volume of the Pt films, we confirmed the effectiveness of high (100) orientation of Pt films suitable for the growth of highly (100)-oriented PZT films.

We report on the achievement of high-efficiency green, yellow, and red InGaN/AlGaN dot-in-a-wire nanowire light-emitting diodes grown on Si(111) by molecular beam epitaxy. The peak emission wavelengths were altered by varying the growth conditions, including the substrate temperature, and In/ Ga flux ratio.

In this study, ZnO/MoS2 heterostructure nanowires have been successfully grown on Si/Au substrates by a one-step co-evaporation method. Boron deposition on both n-Si and n-GaN in the temperature range 250 - 500 °C, has been shown to form diodes with low saturation currents, i.e., electron injection from the n-substrate into the B-layer was efficiently suppressed. Moreover, down to 3-nm-thick B-layers on Si were shown to form a material barrier to Al, opening the possibility of fabricating Au-free gates for gallium-nitride high-electron-mobility transistors (GaN HEMTs).

In this work, we have use a plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition process (PECVD) to grow the SiNWs from Al thin films directly deposited on quartz substrates, the Al-catalyzed SiNWs thus obtained have been characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and electrical measurements, including field- effect transistor evaluations.

Molecular dynamics simulations were conducted to investigate Ge thin film growth on Si substrates. The growth mode, surface morphology, and the layer coverage ratio of Ge atoms were investigated. The surface of the Ge thin film is not smooth, voids and vacancies are highly formed as the incident energy is lower than 0.1 eV.

Amorphous lithium niobate (LiNbO3) films were deposited onto silicon substrates by the radiofrequency magnetron sputtering method in a pure Ar environment and an Ar þ O2 gas mixture with various oxygen contents. The oxide charge existing in as-grown films has two components: the positive Qox distributed in the bulk of a film and the negative Qox located at the film/substrate interface with a maximum magnitude corresponding to an Ar (80) O2 (20) gas mixture.

In this study, we fabricated and investigated device performance of poly-Si thin-film transistors (TFTs) via a two-step pulsed-laser annealing (PLA) method on two kinds of substrates namely glass and YSZ*/glass. It was found that TFTs on YSZ/glass exhibited much better performance and uniformity among devices, e.g., they showed an average mobility of ~80 cm2 /Vs and standard deviation of ~18 cm2 /Vs, respectively, compared with ~40 cm2 /Vs and ~28 cm2 /Vs of TFTs on glass substrates, respectively.

The high sensitivity of the AuNPs/Si substrates was confirmed by the SERS spectra of malachite green detected with high quality at concentrations of 0.1ppm. The SERS substrates can detect SERS spectra of tetracycline at low concentrations of around 1ppm.

We experimentally investigate the carrier transport in back-gated graphene ribbons. The ribbons are monolayer graphene formed by the chemical vapor deposition process and transferred on the SiO2/Si substrate. Electrical measurements show that two categories of electrical behavior are distinguished, respectively, linear and nonlinear.

Metamaterial (MM) is emerging as a promising approach to manipulate electromagnetic waves, spanning from radio frequency to the optical region. In this paper, we employ an effect called electromagnetically-induced transparency (EIT) in all-dielectric MM structures to create a narrow transparent window in opaque broadband of the optical region (580-670 nm). Using dielectric materials instead of metals can mitigate the large non-radiative ohmic loss on the metal surface.
