Intensive Care Unit (ICU) capacity management is essential to provide high-quality healthcare for critically ill patients. Yet, consensus on the most favorable ICU design is lacking, especially whether ICUs should deliver dedicated or non-dedicated care. The decision for dedicated or non-dedicated ICU design considers a trade-off in the degree of specialization for individual patient care and efficient use of resources for society.

People who study and research nuclear radiation face problems of safety, limited time for experiments, high-cost equipment, and especially the non-visual in observing interactions of radiation with matter. The application of computer science to build simulation software in nuclear radiation is an optimal solution to overcome the above limitations.

In this study, we propose to build an equivalent 2D model to replace the 3D model of corrugated composite sheets, by the method of homogenization, to study the nonlinear mechanical behavior of corrugated core composite sheets. This model helps to significantly reduce the calculation time as well as the model building time. The model homogeneity is confirmed by comparing the numerical simulation results of the 2D model and the 3D model.

The present work shows a study on the interaction of incompressible fluid flow with an artificial heart valve using fluid-structure interaction (FSI) ) simulation. The finite element method (FEM) is employed both for fluid and solid domains. The strong coupling scheme is used for the coupling of fluid and structure to satisfy the kinematic and dynamic equilibrium conditions.

In this research, total resistance of two swath models with single and double struts is studied by using Star CCM+ software of Siemen. Displacement and draught of the swath model in both cases are kept the same. Velocities using in simulation are 1.63, 2.44 and 3.25 m/s. Simulation results show that total resistance of the Swath with single strut is smaller than total resistance of the Swath with double struts about 16% when velocity is 1.63 m/s and about 3.8% when velocity is 3.25 m/s.

This paper describes an investigation of fluid flow through two tandem circular cylinders using Lattice-Boltzmann Method in direct numerical simulation. The diameter ratio of two circular cylinders, D1/D2 varies from 0.5 to 1.5, and spacing ratio (L/D2) varies from 1.5 to 10, whereas the Reynolds number of 100 is considered. The numerical model is well validated by comparing the results with those obtained in the literature.

In this study, we developed a fluid flow solver based on the Lattice Boltzmann method to resolve those difficulties. Validation of the solver is performed through two flow problems, including impulsively started flow past a single circular cylinder at Re=3000 and pitching airfoil with large amplitudes and frequencies. The obtained results are in good agreement with the experimental and computational results listed in the references.

This paper presents a method to design a time-varying parameter PID controller for Bézier trajectory tracking of a differential-drive mobile robot (DDMR). First, the robot's linear error model is established by linearizing around the desired angular velocity of the nonlinear kinematic error model. Then, the variable parameter PID controller is designed to control the DDMR to follow the Bézier trajectory with minor error under the condition of time-varying velocity.

The eXtended Finite Element Method (XFEM) produces high effectiveness in analyzing the crack propagation in structures. In this approach, the crack is modeled through enrichment functions instead of explicitly represented on the geometry. This study presents an object-oriented program to simulate crack propagation in 2-dimensional structures.
